Dreams about people you haven't seen in years

Ok, this isn't one of those childish love dreams but here it is. I was having a dream that involved a man I graduated with 6 years ago (never really talked to him or have seen him since graduation.) We were simply sitting on a couch talking. We began at opposite sides of the couch and eventually were sitting next to each other just carring on a convo. The dream then switches to us in a cooking class (i know this is odd). We were making something with bread and spices, my mother eventaully walked in and was talking to the professor. The scene then switches to the two of us dancing and ending the dream with a kiss when i was startled and woke up. It was 2:30am. i don't really understand it. I haven't seen the kid in 6 years and here he is so vivid in my dream i could have reached out and touched him. I've looked up various aspects of the dream but am not understanding it as a whole. Got any suggestions??

the guy you graduate with but is otherwise nothing to you. graduation could be the symbol. feeling like you are getting ready to do something useful and productive with your knowledge. there was a cooking class, so think of something you learned and enjoyed putting into practice recently.
