Default Caves and Canyons

I am in my car. In the back seat. The car is moving. I am looking out the rear window. My brother is with me. I am scared because the car is traveling in a canyon. I can see the huge walls of the canyon on both sides. It is a downward drop. I start to panic as the car goes farther and farther down the steep slope of the canyon. My brother doesn't seem so worried. Soon caves start to appear in the walls of the canyon and one of them seemed like someones home. It had a basketball hoop posted outside of the front door which resembled a garage door. I remember thinking Mexico during the dream as I tried to orientate exactly where I was. The car continued to roll deeper into the canyon.

The scenery changes and I am walking down the sidewalk peacefully. I am approaching the corner. The backyard of the house on the corner had a pool in it. It was overflowing. I cross into the unfenced yard to see what was making the pool overflow. As I get closer to the farside of the pool my ears start to pick up the sound of a raging river. After a couple more steps I see the raging river for myself. I have to admit it was beautiful. It was making the pool overflow. For some reason my dream thought is once again Mexico. The river is flowing North. It doesn't show any sign of slowing down so my next dream thought is to warn my family of the impending flood. Unfortunately my family lives near the coast so I don't go to them to warn them. I remember thinking I need to get away from the water.

Hi Soulflower,

Being in the backseat gives me the idea of not being in control of a situation and going down a canyon may mean that you're going through a hard time. I'm not sure whether the home and basketball hoop may have something to do with your home or not. I do notice that your brother doesn't seem to be concerned, but most men are conditioned not to express our emotions. Not sure the relation Mexico may have.

The pool may mean your unconscious mind and the overflowing and raging river may mean that your in a state of "flux" or unsettled, only you can answer that. North may mean a direction that needs to be taken. Maybe the need to warn your family of the flood may mean that you want to share your feelings with them, but you don't feel comfortable at this time. Hope this helps.

Thanks Smitty. That's one way of looking at it. I will continue to consider your interpretation.

"I need to get away from the danger"

Thats what I see in this dream. How does that feeling show up in your emotions yesterday?

Hello soulflower,
The first part of your dream strikes me. It is a presentation that often depicts (symbolicly) the trauma of birth that we all experience to some degree. With regard to this aspect of your dream I am curious to know if your brother is your twin?

If your answer is no, then it would be a architectural reference in the dream of the subconscious mind, (a point of reference), that acknowledges that you and your brother are of the same mom meaning "hey bro we are blood"

Let me explain. The subconscious mind presents dreams that contain important information, along with references that is pertinent (and shows where the thought comes from). Now, if your brother was not your real brother in reality, It likely depicts the aspect of the subconscious mind itself being born with you. In this sense the first paragraph of your post would be the subconscious mind saying basically, "Hey soulflower" I am part of you, we are one in the same person and we were born at the same time. I am with you and there is nothing to be afraid of. "We experience everything in life together"
Stepping back a step... if you have a twin, then this is an acknowledgment of the strong bond that binds you throughout your existence.
Either way this is powerful!!
Now I have not read the second paragraph so I will copy and past it here and comment using a "line at a time" method to see what meaning might be there.
My comments will be in blue
The scenery changes and I am walking down the sidewalk peacefully. Showing your demeanor or normal state of emotional existence I am approaching the corner. It seems as if you may be at a crossroads or a situation has presented itself in waking life. The backyard of the house on the corner had a pool in it.Depicting the fact that you are contemplating "things" that are somewhat secret (in your life). TThese thoughts are yours concerning things that you do not necessarily make known publicly. It was overflowing.Regarding this line of thought, there is much to consider (if not quantity...then what is there that is secretive is something that conjures a high degree of emotion in you. I cross into the unfenced yard to see what was making the pool overflow. Here you are willing to cross the emotional threshold in to a thought that is unpleasant to you, something that at least causes much emotional overflow. As I get closer to the farside of the pool my ears start to pick up the sound of a raging river.Yes, exactly...in this place that is pretty private to you (an emotional safe place where your uncomfortable thoughts or even recollections reside. They are raging and feed the emotional pool that you operate from day to day. In english something that you have encountered in the past emotionally affects the person that you are each and every day. After a couple more steps I see the raging river for myself. I have to admit it was beautiful. This is usually taken to mean that you have overcome diversity and you have turned it to a positive. Something bad or traumatic from your past contributes to your daily persona. Something from your past has made you a stronger person! It was making the pool overflow. At times, though it can overcome you...kind of an emotional break down or "poor me syndrome". For some reason my dream thought is once again Mexico. The river is flowing North. It doesn't show any sign of slowing down so my next dream thought is to warn my family of the impending flood. Unfortunately my family lives near the coast so I don't go to them to warn them. I remember thinking I need to get away from the water.Ok, this dream may well be multi plane (meaning a dream whose symbolism efficiently and effectively addresses two or more "things" simultaneously. This may well be the case. If by reading this far you may be zeroing in on something in your life that it could relate to then it will be multi plane. I say this because I see that it also addresses birth and the trauma that you suffered during your coming into this world. Especially the end of your dream referencing Mexico...this aspect of the dream connotes the genital area (the place where we enter the world). Your reference north indicates that you are thinking about this. With this said I would say that you likely had quite a struggle coming into this world. It connotes an inner trait of yours...While you are afraid at times, it is clear that you are a fighter or at least, that you have the capability to prevail when you put your mind to it. T
I am not certain what has incubated this dream in you (why your subconscious mind has chosen to present you with this dream) but I have seen it throughout the years that I have been evaluating others dreams. It seems to present as a statement to say (Hey, look who you are. You are somebody who has what it takes to overcome your fears and struggles. You did this as you came in to the world and with my help (either your subconscious mind or your twin brother as discussed earlier...which ever applies to you) you can make it!
Still with all that has been said, keep in mind that this dream shows that you are facing something that is triggering your fight or flight instinct. You are facing something that you are evaluating weather you should run like crazy or stand and face it. ...some additional comments will follow this post.
Your thoughts??

additional thoughts...
I have found first hand, and have also read, that the mind often gives a point of reference of when the dreamer first addressed the feelings and emotions (usually fear based) that they first encountered them.
Example: If you first burned your hand in a flame when you were five, then later in life you get burned again, the mind often references the first time in your life when you encountered a burn. It does this as if to say...hey remember, you have been here before. Remember that? Did you not learn from that? Perhaps it is time that you remember this time.
Are you with me?
So in your case (as well as others who experience the trauma of birth), for what ever reason the mind goes back to that experience symbolically .
I would like to know what your thoughts are.
One thing is pretty certain...At the time of this dream you were experiencing or facing something that created fear within you and this dream is one that tells you that you will endure! That you are not alone!!
Again, I would very much appreciate your thoughts on this.
Regards,
sailrmc
