Hi to everyone, im a new member looking for help.
For the last 2 weeks i've been having a recurrent dream that i can only describe as disturbing.... Im on the norfolk broads ( a quiet relaxing boating holiday which we go on every year and enjoy) and mick my partner is driving the boat while me, my son kyle and his girlfriend vicky are sunbathing on the boat ( an exact replica of last years holiday). Suddenly mick slumps at the wheel and is out cold, i shout to kyle for help to move him as the boat is going everywhere. kyle manages to get him onto the deck which is when mick starts fitting really badly, i have to put my trust in kyle to steer and moor up the boat near a house so we can get help as we dont know our exact location. I then lay down behind mick and restain him as he may hurt himself ( i can understand this bit as im trained in restraint for my work and i hate doing it because i always seem to get hurt). Kyle and vicky manage to moor up the boat after crashing it a few times and have the forethought to ring my mum and dad who are on their own boat further up river. Vicky runs to a house and its a nurse who answers the door who calls an ambulance and helps me straight away. An air ambulance is called but it cant land anywhere....... Then i wake up All through this dream im anxious and distressed and the feeling never lessens the next time i dream it...... I adore mick and would never wish such a thing on him...... Im currently off work with stress due to an incident at work, and im not in the best of health..... can anyone make head or tail out of all this Thanks for reading Caroline x |

What medicine are you taking for stress? If you're taking tranquilisers, they may effect your sleep and dreams. Some of them work by supressing the senses, however this makes the dreams more vivid and frightening. Your subconscious uses the boating holidays as the basis for your dreams as during those holidays you're always frightened of crashing the boat! Actually this "relaxing holiday" is very stressful for you in reality. the reason your subconscious brings your partner into the dream is because you care for him a lot. Restraining him causes you that extra pain you need to compensate for the effect of the medicine or the stess you are under at present. Have a look at inverted nightmares Cheers Wolfjk

Dreams translate real life issues into a little play that often simply shows key feelings right now. You say you have stress and you are off work. This dream simply replays that stress. Its in the home probably because you are off work and still feeling stress. It maybe features some thoughts about work as you are thinking when you are likely to go back.
Once the dream stops recurring then it may show you feel more settled. Do not worry about the dreams. abulances simply show that you feel and realise the seriousness of a situation. But overall if you are stressful in life then expect your dreams to reflect that stress. We often expect dreams to lift us up. Mostly they do not they simply replay the very things that are upsetting us. -------------------- Dream dictionary symbols - How to analyse and interpret dreams A dream dictionary based upon hundreds of real dreams |

you aren't going nuts! There I told you.
Seriously though. dreams aren't usually based around logic or plot. They are based around emotion. So when you dream theres usually a key emotion to that dream. Then because of that emotion it will form the dreams plot or logic (or none) around that feeling. so whenever you go on this trip in real life you probly feel it relieves you from all the stress you go through when working. But because your dream is based around your anxiousness and stress your dream takes that situation and makes everything that you fear could go wrong actually happen. (which I think can lead to lucid dreaming because as soon as the dreamer changes his feelings in the dream he gains control over whats happening and then he realizes he can control the dream and it leads from there). I hope this helps. and whatever you do, do not take medication!
