First dream(remembered) of the new year. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
- Manny Outside, an overcast sky was above me, but it didn't look like it would rain for a while(or at all). I was on the edge of a street walking with my old Nikon in hand, black and gold strap around my neck. Lots of autumn trees, lots of dead ones too. It wasn't too cold and felt more like spring in the air, but visually it was fall/winter minus the snow. I passed people every so often asking questions and making small talk, none of them were memorable though, just numbers. I was looking for something in particular, something important. Eventually, I came to an old man standing near a section of road close to an area full of trees. He had white/grey hair that came to his shoulders and a long, but straight and well groomed mustache and beard. He wore a green light jacket and a "paperboy" hat of the same color, brown pants and black slip-on style shoes with no laces. Small round glasses with shaded lenses rested on his face and he leaned against an hand carved ancient looking wooden cane. He looked Asian, from what I could tell. I started asking him the same questions, I told him what it was that I was looking for. He just smiled back listening patiently and when I was finished, he pointed behind me up in the trees. There it was the bird I was looking for, a black hawk with a golden speckled underside and under it's wings. I turned fast, raising my camera and the hawk leapt from the tops of the trees and started to fly toward us. It flew with tremendous speed directly at us before slowing ten feet in front of us and gliding left. Through my Nikon's viewfinder, just as the hawk turned it's motion and the motion of the world around all slowed greatly. He seemed to be looking directly into my eyes and I felt connected to him. I watched through a square with dark black outline as he flapped his great wings, snapping a photo every few seconds freezing motion completely. The hawk started to become more and more golden and with this the trees started filling with leaves and changing color behind him and a ray of sunlight started to peak through in the sky behind him. Black to gold and eventually to a shade of red/orange/gold that resembled flames. The trees and world around was now green and full of life, and that golden ray of sun broke through the clouds illuminating everything.End. Last edited by MannyAnalogue : 01-04-2009 at 11:43 AM. |

Well many dreams can be very creative. The dream features a camera. Maybe thats not a coincidnece. Have you just got this camera? Have you been thinking creatively about photography? Perhaps its a dream about you bringing to life something ... an imaginative process
But I could easily be wrong. All I can do is suggest ideas which maybe show how a dream could associate with reality ----------------- Think of dream symbols like words. They deal with a basic theme. The difficulty is that the language of dreams is difficult to understand. You know what the word means but it can be applied in many different ways in a sentence. For instance take the word soldier. You could say the following sentences all with the word soldier in. "I need to soldier on" "I want to become a soldier in the British Army" "Soldiers of poor and broken hearted" Each of these have very different meanings. Some apply to you and others are very loose usages. Understanding dreams is like this. You know what the general theme means but it has 101 applications. Uncle
First thank you for taking time out for my dream. I bought the camera quite a few years ago now. I actually bought a newer digital slr a few years later, but whenever I dream of cameras it's always the old F2A. As far as the creative side, it's writing for me. At least that's what I want to do. If your interpretation went the same, switching photography for writing then that would be pretty encouraging. Thanks again mano. - Manny |

Well yes. Dreams do use one thing that is similar to another. Photography is creative and is writing. In photography you try to capture the picture in an inspiring and interesting way. Dreams do so easily swap one thing that is like another.
So were you thinking in a particularly creative way the day before the dream? Or thinking how to tackle some writing the next day? ----------------------------- The dream mind is a conceptual mind. So expect the meaning of a dream to be a conceptual meaning. Try to think about the ideas and emotions that are forming in your mind. Dreams can be about health issues, they can be about relationships, they can simply reflect some paranoias in your mind. Simply put dreams are about the STUFF in your mind. So instead of trying to interpret the dream try to think about ideas forming in your mind. Whats more dreams concentrate on new feelings. They capture those moments when your feelings change. For instance the moment when you started to mistrust your boyfriend. Well, writing is what I want to do, it's what I feel like I have to do and it seems like nothing can stop me from wanting it. I don't have any "training" or specific schooling in writing, and I've only been trying for a short time(little over a year?). It's basically a leap of faith for me, whether it's a foolish one or not. I don't feel like I can help it.
It's something that's always on my mind, so it's probably safe to say that I was thinking about some ideas on a story the night before the dream. It does worry me to think that I'm setting my life on this one thing and it could all amount to nothing in the end. |
