End of the world dream

i had a strange dream this morning.
i was at home, with my family, we ewre preparing for the end of the world, we had provisions and we locking down the house ready. i had the baby in my arms and my husband told me to look out the window throught a blue pen to see a ball inteh sky it came closer and closer and i freaked out and backed away fromt eh window and the all bounced out the sky and across teh garden and stoped. the next time i looked out the window everything from an inch infront of out door was water. there was a thing looked like a amphibious lady trying to get in out of the danger and so i run down stairs to let her in, it fels safe to let her in.

then i go back to a window (upstairs i think) i look out and all the birds are flying away in strange formations, flying V's and all sorts, like rats leaveing a doomed ship, i felt doom, i knew we werea ll going to die, i called to my kids to all come int eh livingroom, but the ignored me, i had the baby in my arms and kept hugging her, telling her i love her, my husband too, calling for my other kids, ithe more i watched the strangeer the birds flying got till all of a sudden it stopped adn all teh birds landed, but there were not birds that normaly live at my side of the world, they were exotic birds, then in the distances above the earth i saw the "planet killer" meteor going past (it looked like the symbole for treasure planet) we were not going to die, te relief was as real as the fear. i was glad we were alive, i hugged my baby tight. then i woke up realised it was a dream and hugged the baby even more(she was in bed with me the whole time)

very strange, the fear was real, i was really afraid we were all (as in the whole world, not jstu my family) going to die.

Hi there,

just a few words. Apocalyptic dreams are a genre of it's own, and they happen relatively often in our current time. However, they do not proclaim the end of THE world, but the end of A world. A certain world-view and life-time for the dreamer seems to be ending, and it is often accompanied with dreams which depict the end of an era. Considering the upheaval in our modern world, the "old ways" are no longer working as they did in the past, and new ideas are now settling in. For example, "ecological cars" become more important than ever before, yet few people had thought about them in the past.

"Birds" in dreams can relate to thoughts and ideas, and that they are flying in a "V" form can mean that they are pointing into a certain direction. It could be "exotic birds", exotic new ideas which now settle down. They will mark the end of an old approach towards the world and signal the beginning of a new one. Because such dreams happen in large numbers these days, it seems to me that it is not a personal "Apocalypse" but a collective one, but in the sense that an old world view is ending and a new is about to unfold. The world will continue to turn around, but in a new direction.

When you sleep with a baby in your bed, the subconscious is aware of of your bedfellow and makes you take good care of him/her! Your dream was caused by your fear of hurting or suffocating your baby. The end of the world scenario was created by your subconscious to wake you or keep you near waking level so you could look after the baby.
my guess is that you were cuddling the baby in your sleep and went to sleep with your arms hurting.
when you have a young family, you constantly think of their future in this turbulent world and the subconscious uses your thoughts to create the dream. However the dream was caused by the baby in bed with you.

i dont think the dream was caused by my fear of hurting the baby, she is 14 months old and has slept with me on and off since birth. and she had really only been with me for about an hour or so as she woke to nurse and we fell back to sleep.

it does make sense that the "old-life" is over. things in my family and in my self are changing, some good, some not so good, the world as a whole is changing too.
