Default paralyzed while sleeping???

k going to try and explain this as best i can hopefully someone will no what the fuk it is.

the first time it happened was in thailand and it happened to a friend of mine. he woke up in the morning looking confused as all buggery and told us that he had become completely paralyzed while he was sleeping. he said he was completely awake and totally aware but could not physically move his body or scream out to me for 5 to 10 min. eventually he very slowly managed to move out of it one finger then arm then leg at a time....basically the other two of us were like hmmm fek thats weird but didnt think a whole heap about it.
a few days later the exact same thing happened to the other two of us aswell. my mate came into my room saying that he was completely paralyzed laying in his bed. he said he was trying to scream out but couldnt make even a sound. the crazy thing was that the exact same thing happened to me. mine had a slight dream to it aswell but the crazy thing was that i was entirerly aware in my dream that i was dreaming and i was trying like crazy to wake up and scream but i just couldnt move.

we thought that it would be associated with sleep deprivation and the alcohol and even maybe the mushroom shakes (it happened to the first guy before the mushies then happened to us couple of days after the mushies).

weird thing is since thailand its happened to me twice. once about 4 months ago and once just last night. last night was fuking crazy i was laying in bed completely paralyzed and my jaw was shaking like crazy. so much so i was worried i was going to bite my own tongue off. it felt so unbelievable real it was crazy. i tried screaming out to my little brother and tried kiking the walls but couldnt move. eventually i rolled off the bed (or thought i did) and ran to the bathroom all fuked up. i looked in the mirror and suddenly woke up. i was still in my bed and hadnt moved a muscle. might just seem to you like i was having a weird nightmare but it was far to real. i hav had nightmares before and this was completely different. im thinking this might be related to some drugs i had on the weekend but dont really no.

if anyway had similar **** happens or noes what the fuk it is let us no

cheers

ps. i tried explaining best i could. writing it out just doesnt show how crazy it really was

This happens to me quite often, especially when I'm overly tired. Sometimes it will happen 2 or 3 times in one night before I finally get to sleep. I think once you know what it is, you have more control over it when it happens. I have had all of the classic symptom, feelings of something being in the room, something sitting on my bed, fear, etc. Sometimes it happens to me, and when it does I can say to myself, "darn, sleep paralysis again" and I have to focus on moving a finger or a toe or something to bring myself out of it. I have to make sure that I am fully conscious and aware before I try to go back to sleep which can be difficult, since the only reason I have these episodes is because I am overly tired. However, if I do not become fully awake and conscious, often I only dream that I got up and out of bed and go into the bathroom or kitchen or where ever. At this point its difficult to tell the dream from reality because getting up and out of bed seems so real. My point is, once you understand what is happening, you can control it when it happens and that eliminates the fear. Hope this helps.

Default fear paralysis?

It happened to me last night too.... it never happened before. Im 15 and this sounds dumb but i thought i was going to die. I was having a dream that me and my best friend kayla were in some huge lake and i was hessitating to go in for a long time then i just got in with her. the lake was far down from a retaining wall of some sort so we had to climb down. there were other people there too but i paid no attention, she pulled out a joint and we shared it. i asked her where she got it cuz it was the best weed i ever smoked. i remember i was a lot higher than her like my tolerance was super super low or something. i think i was half awake half not when i felt something cold laying next to me and i remember thinking in my head "so this is what is like to have a ghost by you" cold. i really felt something by me and i was sleeping curled up in a ball... i tried to move but i couldnt... i couldnt talk or anything either so i jus sat there thinking what the **** is going on... i could feel my heart beating really fast and i couldnt open my eyes. i was trying so hard to open my eyes and finally i guess i managed to open one a little and i saw a bright flash of white light.. im wondering if this could have happened because i took about 290 mg. of coricidin... when you are suppose to only have about 30mg or 60 mg. if you have a cold or cough since it is a mediciane. it gets you so high and its also made for people who have high blood pressure which i never had until i started abusing this medicine. i also smoke a lot of weed but havent smoked anything in almost two weeks.. well anyways, i didnt know what to do so i went into my sisters room and tried to go to sleep but i was still too scared cuz her room is really dark and has all kinds of heavy metal band posters all over n the people kinda look like devils lol which normally wouldnt scare me but i was in shock i guess so i went into my parents room and i told my dad what happened and he said there was no ghost..you felt the coldness coming off your windon and what i expierenced was fear paralysis.. hes a really smart guy he himself has had encounters with ghosts and some out of body expierences which he says will most likley happen to me too because it sort of runs in the family and when i was little i had this horrible nightmare when i had a fever and i woke up crying. i explained the dream to him and he said he had the same dream when he was my age too... FREAKY! lol i just would like you know what other people think... thanks.

I frequently experience this and have for many, many years - you are right. It can be incredibly freaky... and I've never gotten used to it... I do not think it is drugs as I do not do drugs. Interestingly, I lived in Thailand for about 4 years back in the mid-70's... Lately, I've begun to think that it may somehow be related to apnea...

not me but my older brother has experience this chronically through out his life, the last time was last night he tells me that he can see himself in his room but with his eyes closed then a spirit or a demon starts touching him in his nipples or groin he says he doesnt like it and becomes frighten when it happens just last night he said he was able to calm himself down and and ask whoever it was what it wanted, he said the only thing he remembers it said was the word book but anyways my point was when he becomes paralyzed in his sleep something F**ks with him and he says that he thinks it its evil. Any thoughts on this matter? Any and all replys are welcomed.
