Default A horrible dream I need clarity on.

So...

I had this dream two days ago...

The dream started with me speaking to someone in a garage about a car I had. This person was going to ride with me but I did not recognize him. The home was my childhood home. I then drove to a home. I was with family and we were at someones house. Some kind of get together or dinner of some kind. I found myself saying goodnight and walking away and heading to a car. When I had gone into the home it was daylight. When I was walking to the car it had become night time. The world had changed and there was all bad people and dogs everywhere. All the dogs were pit bulls and were pets...There was not one female human being from this part of the dream on. Yet, for some reason I felt that every animal but one dog was female. So...I get to my car. The car had been modified and the roof torn off. It looked destroyed and there was animal waste all over the car. The car was a Lincoln the same car I had when I lived at another "child hood" home when I turned 16. Some guys had followed me to my car and I was going to get in the car and leave asap. Now that my car was destroyed I could not leave. One of the men invited me to come hang out with them. I didn't know what else to do so I just followed him. We go back to the house and now it was bowling lanes upstairs with a few people just sitting on bleachers watching me walk by. I then followed them to a doorway that led down some stairs. Right before we got through the door I heard the man say to his friend, "I hope we find another fight soon because he is getting sick on the body down here" ... We get through the doorway and I look to the left. I see this kind of stall row...Like stables...But instead of horses it was pit bull puppies and mothers. I saw a man...He had won a dog fight and this mans life in the process. He had the mans body in one of the stalls. He had the man naked, lying on his back with his legs pushed back, the mans dead pit bull on his belly (the dog on its back on the man) and he was raping the dead bodies. That dog was the one male animal. He looked up at me and made sure I did not react to it. We made eye contact and he just went back to what he was doing. He seemed to be moving slow and taking his time. I looked to my right and saw a wall with two hallways leading to the right and the left. On the wall in front of me were disgusting pictures blown up and framed poster size of things these men had done to people and were proud of. The same thing to the hallway on the left and just around the corner a blanket covered in blood and dog waste. For some reason I knew to not look down or go near that hallway on the left. I knew I would be horribly murdered if I did. I kept to the right hand side next to the man that had invited me. People with human waste framing them and nailed to the floor with there skin stretched out disemboweled. Pictures that are so hard to explain and so graphic it is not even worth it. I didn't want to act afraid or out of place to lead these men to take advantage of me. So I said as relaxed as I could, "Hey I'll be right back I'm just going to lay down a moment" ... I went upstairs and now it was a normal home again. It was also now daytime again. I got down on the couch. As I was on the couch three animals came up to me. First a pit bull (I have had many dreams of pit bulls and also a dark large dog biting my hands over and over again) and the dog looked me in the eyes...I closed my eyes and opened them and the dog was gone. Then another one of the mans pets came up to me. This time a small tiger. The tiger looked at me, I closed my eyes, and when I opened them and watched it walk away. Then last a panther came up to me, odd looking, sort of black with a highlight of purple, and the same thing happened. Only the panther and myself locked eyes for much longer period of time first. Then I woke up...I have very lucid dreams so uh...Ya, I really wish this was a blur...WTF!

I have no history of mental illness and I am in general a very happy and kind person so I hope this doesn't make me crazy...So why the hell do I get dreams like this from time to time?

Well dreams are about how we feel. The most level headed person who never suffers from mental illness will try to make sure they do not get troubled. They will spot any anxieties in their mind. So its about you spotting any level of mental illness. Thats how you stay sane

------------------------
When you get a dream first try to see it in simple ways. In a very simplified version think if the dream is good or bad. If you feel good in the dream and things are going well then just sum up that portion of the dream as "feeling good". Then try to see where you are feeling good in life. Is there some relationship that is making you feel good? Is there some situation that cheered you up yesterday? Are you generally feeling good right now? Such simple clues are the easiest ones to trace. So instead of getting caught up in the details of the dream first take an overview. Many dreams work through changes in our feelings and will describe ways in which our emotions transformed. So first reduce your dream to a simple list of emotions such as "I felt good and was optomistic", "I was confused" and "I felt frustrated". The basic details of the dream may involve all kinds of symbols and hidden meanings but often you get the best clues from the feelings. If you take the above list of feelings in the dream it maybe exactly capturing your feelings from the day before when "I was really looking forward to work yesterday. Then a colleague started to interfere in my work project and I became angry. My ideas were undermined and I ended the day feeling frustrated". The dream itself may feature all kinds of silly details which bear no resemblance to reality but the dream captures the exact feelings and emotions over some specific incident.
