Deceased father appearance

So my father died when i was ten years old,
& every once in a while i have wierd dreams of him appearing
back in my life. So recently, I was just hangin' out with all
of my family, you know, just the normal thing & he was there. He didn't speak
or didn't wave, he was just there. Then another time, I seen him & ran up to him like he went away on vacation for a long time so it was like the first time
i've seen him in years or something, but anyway, yes so i ran up to him & was straight out with him & asked why he was here because i thought he died, & he responded to me like i was crazy and it's a shame i even thought of such a thing. Any explanation for that?
