I had a dream last night that I was going to die. Me dying wasn't the main part of the dream - it was what my purpose was to be afterwards. In my dream someone was trying to tell me what I was there to do after I died. And it was OK that I died because I was going to do something really good afterwards. They told me to let people know before it happened and that I was there to protect a soldier who was far away from here. They tried to take me to where he was; so I would know but I woke up. What do you think???

It sounds to me like you might be approaching what you perceive to be a significant change in your life, a change that affects your life goals and what you see as your reason for living. The death in the dream is probably the death of a previous self concept or a previous role or outlook on life. Your dream is reassuring you that you don't have to fear this change, and the fact that you have been encouraged to let everyone know about your purpose after death means that you feel you should be proud of yourself for this change.

That's pretty general, but I think if this seems to fit your feelings about the dream, you can probably work out the details of the dream's meaning on your own. It might be interesting to think about exactly who was telling you about your post-death purpose and the kind of attitude you had toward them, or maybe examine what "protecting a soldier" means by thinking about what (or who) you associate with soldiers and the kind of attitude that you have towards those things.
