Default Please help me understand my dream?!

Hey everyone,
I had the worst dream last night. I woke up sweating and crying and breathing heavily. Any help you can offer on interpretation of my dream would be helpful.

Recently, my grandmother passed away. She had been admitted to hospital for a chest infection which was fairly routine, and the next morning she had a heart attack. My family all travelled up and said our goodbyes to her after she'd passed, and arranged plans for cremation. Oh, and I have a bit of a fear of hospitals.

Anyway, in my dream I was in a hospital with my family and was told by nurses that the drugs used on my granma causes her to get up and walk around like she is still alive, however, she is really actually dead, its just drugs making her move.

So my granma/zombie? comes into the waiting room and, in un-granma-like fashion, says 'can't get no more drugs. won't give me 'em.' I started crying because she wanted something she couldn't have, all my family was just ignoring her expect my younger sister and i who were trying to help.

at some point i was a nurse consoling a patient about their loss of a loved one, saying i'd lost someone, when all of a sudden i saw my granma/zombie moving outside the glass door and ran out there.

Also, at another point, i was trying to bind my granma's hands behind her back (she was lying on the ground, i leaning over her) and a doctor came out and, as if by magic, he started undoing the knot i was tying with his eyes.

I wrestled with him, and got his lighter off him. I was attempting to set him on fire when he told me that he'd covered her body in gasoline. and if i set him alight she'd go up with him to.

I set him on fire, and then lit the corpse/zombie of my granma on fire.. and then I woke up.

Sorry about the long story but I was/am really freaked out by this. My granma only died 5 days ago.

Thanks for you're help.

Danni...

I am so sorry for your loss. You seem like you were very close to your grandmother...and I believe your dream is reflecting the anxiety and sorrow you have over her loss. You said you are afraid of hospitals...this indicates your fear of the loss and fear of not knowing how to deal with it. The drugs that are making her walk around although she is no longer alive is your mind's way of trying to deal with this loss. It is like saying....she is very much alive to you although you know she is gone now. You crying because she couldn't have something she wanted (drugs...which make her appear to be alive)...again is your feelings of guilt and sorrow wrapped around the fear that you will lose a clear memory of her. Binding her arms (or your attempt to do so) is your mind's attempt to hold her there with you...keep her from moving on and away from you. Your struggling with the doctor is also your way of venting your anger that medicine and professionals should have caught how sick she was. In a way...you blame doctors for her passing...perhaps thinking they could have prevented her death. I am sure you will have more dreams about your grandmother...as you struggle to heal from your loss. I think this is very common for those who have lost a loved one. Hang in there dear...and find someone close to you that will allow you to vent your sadness and anger about the situation. If you need to...seek a therapist who can assist you with understanding the steps (there are actual levels) of loss. My best thoughts go out to you dear as you deal with this sad situation. Be well.

Maybe it just shows that you are freaked out by death. But really dreams use very bizzare symbols. They do mean something. But if they were TRULY TRANSLATED then I am sure that you would probably be less freaked out by their meaning. They speak their own language. Try not to be too freaked out. Its like trying to understand someone speaking russian. We can jump to all conclusions. It probably does not mean what we suspect it means

Its amazing how good the TV reality show Big Brother is in understanding dreams. Occasionally contestants discuss their dreams. The cause of dreams is usually hidden in the events and feelings from the day before. The show itself highlights any pyschological changes within the contestants. They pick up on little changes in behavior and they interview the contestants on a daily basis. Dreams tend to symbolise new thoughts and feelings. They may link to some new thought being clarified within the dreamers mind. The whole days activity is crammed into a one hour show at night and so any changes in the contestants are neatly cut into sound bite size. The meaning of any one dream could even be traced back to one TV clip where a contestant actually says what is on their mind. They cannot hide from the cameras. The inner workings of their mind are on total view. Even the slightest smile or frown is picked up.

Try this page which features Big Brother dreams going back several years.
