Hey all,
First off, I usually control my dreams. Most of the time I can control what happens, either somewhat or greatly. Every now and then I come across a dream I can't control, but those are rare, and I never remember what they were about anyway. Lately though I had this same dream a few days in a row, and when I have it 3 time strait and still can't control it, something is up. The dream starts off with me being in a hostage situation with a bunch of people and one of my friends, I met her when I went to school a few years ago and we have always been in touch. We are all in the hull of a boat that's out at sea. There is a small explosion and all the hostages run to part of a boat that has a hole in it, with the hostages takers in hot pursuit. I manage to jump out and I go all the way to the bottom holding my breath (really holding my breath, I can feel myself doing it outside the dream (usually the first step of me controlling a dream, but i digress)) I think look around for my friend, whom I can't find and quickly go to the surface. I barely make it to the top and start gasping for air, which starts me to really start gasping for air. I then start to wake up while wondering where my friend is. That is the same dream I had 3 nights in a row now. It's odd for me not to control my dreams, its very odd for me to not control a dream I had once before. And back to back is unheard of for me since I was 9 (I had a recurring dream about me falling down stairs back then, eventually I stood up and stopped falling then since then I realized I can control what happens when I dream). There are far too many elements of this dream then a quick google search can help me understand, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Michael |

First of all this: I can control my dreams! You can't! The dream is always in control! However since the aim of dreams is always to bring you to the level of consciousness where you can grasp what your subconscious mind is trying to tell your brain, the subconscious kidds you on with the idea that itis you who is controlling the dream! Hi,
If one dreamt he was a hostage or was kidnapped means he will keep away from a sin. If dreamt his child or his wife or a friend was a hostage means someone will oppress him.***************************** If dreamt someone was his hostage means that a person will need him. Some interpreters say if he was a hostage means his belief is spoiled. The clothed one/38. If one dreamt he was on a boat and got out safe means he will rescue from a sorrow. The poets/119.********************************** If dreamt his boat broke means he will have a disaster. If dreamt he was on a boat and there were goods on board means he will go to a travel and will earn plenty of money. The Beneficent/24. If dreamt he was on a boat and the boat was still and didn't move means he will stay in a travel. If dreamt he was on a ship or boat and there blew a wind and the boat moved means he will rescue from a sorrow. If dreamt the boat was still and the waves were hitting the boat from everywhere means he will have a sorrow. The Yunus/22. If dreamt empty boats were moving in the sea means the governor will send ambassadors around the world, if some of the boats sank in the sea means certain messengers will be arrested. If dreamt he was on a boat and was afraid of the sea means he will get close to the governor and will collect money. If dreamt his ship sank deep into the sea ( or he was in a submarine) means he will receive some power from the governor. If dreamt he was sitting in a boat means he will work for the governor and will collect money. Ship or boat may also mean 1- child 2- father 3- wife 4- horse or a car 5- safety 6- life 7- wealth 8- sorrow.

Thanks all for the help.
I'm sorry if I came off as "I can control and you can't" feeling. I don't think I implied if others can't, but I apologize if I did. It is just most of the time when I dream, I know I'm dreaming. So it's easy for me to break the rules of what the dream gave me and do what I want. Sometimes however, my mind will contently change the background of the dream, or change subjects often and quickly so I really can't keep track of what is going to actually take control. I think it does that because most of the time, when I take control i have a horrible night sleep. As I said before, when I was 9 with that falling down, eventually I remembered that it wasn't real, and it was a dream, so I could do whatever I wanted. I might be wrong with thinking I can control them, but I just get that feeling when I'm dreaming and think "Wait, this is a dream, lets have some fun now". I then proceed to change what ever is going on (which usually wakes me up) or just go with the subject and change things that I don't like. (IE if someone says something that I don't like, I just replay that part over and change the result). The more I try and control of the dream, the more times I wake up. Pretty much the only thing I could never do in a dream, is read. If I'm looking at something I can't read, I usually make the connection that it's a dream, then proceed to do my own thing. As for the breathing thing, I have recorded myself sleeping, and I don't snore a lot. Only those 3 nights have I had that problem with breathing.(Which is also my first 3 nights I had in a new place i moved in) Previously I had dreams when I'm brushing my teeth and I start to gag almost lose my lunch in the dream. Until the last second when I realize it's a dream and I should wake up. Then it's a 50/50 chance if I actually do throw up or not when I'm awake. If I can calm myself down and get it in my head it was only a dream, then I'm fine, other times I was just gagging myself too much and end up making a fun for the bathroom to get rid if the pretty much nothing in my stomach. Often times for vivid dreams, I bring what ever happens last in the dream back with me (IE I was shot in the leg once (Then I realized ok this dream is beyond my control, time to get out of here. So I started to shake my head fast), and when I woke up I had a pain in my leg for the good part of 15min. Same thing goes with hugs and the like, then again I might just be insane and all of this is a mute point... But sorry for the essay, thanks for the analysis both of you, and yes i do sleep on my back |

Thanks for your post! It is very intersting for me. I have been studying dreams for a long time and am interested in the lucidity aspect of dreams. However I like to go back into the subconscious part as far as I can. When you realise that IT IS A DREAM! you are already near waking level! It is like swimming near the surface of a pool. You can ether go below or your head pops above the water level. Quote:
It may be just saliva or an acid reflux, or you may be allergic to some food. In my case I hadf too much to drink. The dream wakes you up because it would be dangerous if you threw up while asleep. Quote:
May be you are just too sensitive
