gunshot wounds in dreams

Hi,

I have an interesting situation. Both my girlfriend and I have had dreams in which we have been shot in the last two nights.

In hers she did not encounter a shooter or feel any pain but felt a somewhat detached need to get to the hospital, but not after finishing important chores, almost as if she was trying to complete a to-do list. She was shot in the solar plexus, there was no blood, she showed the wound to people in the dream. I was not in the dream.

In mine I was shot by a hotel owner for arguing about the price of a room. It was my right shoulder. It felt like a vaccination needle (at least in my memory) for which I have an intense phobia. My girlfriend was with me at the time, and neither one of us was very struck by a need to get me to the hospital. We simply worried that it might dirty my clothes.

We have both been home for the summer after a semester more or less together all the time and are feeling a lot of anxiety about the frustrating and busy nature of our time apart, and our relationship has suffered as a result.

We also recently (yesterday) bought plane tickets to Lima, Peru, which is notoriously crime-ridden in some areas.

What do these gunshot wounds indicate?

Often people who are close have the same or similar dreams on the same night. This is because a common incident was experienced by you both OR in this case perhaps you had the dream incubated through an experience and you transferred knowledge of yoru incident to your girl friend. Just by telling her of your situation can trigger a somewhat similar dream. Read on...

In some way she is showing that her feelings have been hurt. Either you did this to her or as I earlier indicated she prehaps listened to an account that you conveyed to her about your feelings being hurt. She was shot in the solar plexus,Showing that it hit her hard. What ever has incubated this dream has affected her to the core. As I mentioned she may have been hurt by something that have said or done OR she listened intently and was affected by what you told her about something that hurt you. there was no blood, she showed the wound to people in the dream. I was not in the dream.No blood...is one indicator that she may not have suffered humiliation or emotional pain directly...but she feels badly that you may have.

Money arguments take this form in dreams...but not necessarily. The difficult real life situation may be adversity over the emotional price that is paid for being in a certain relationship. My girlfriend was with me at the time, and neither one of us was very struck by a need to get me to the hospital. We simply worried that it might dirty my clothes.The dirtying of clothes has to do with emotions that you would display as a result of whatever or whoever caused the pain that the dream was about.
In essence, someone has had their feelings hurt (typically in this context this is an emotional pain that is being suffered). your dream is telling you that both you and your girlfriend have been affected in some way. Your girlfriend in some way is not quite as affected because she remained functional and focused on completing her duties. It could be that she did not have time to worry about such matters until she had time to sit down and focus on it.

The context points to the the anxiety, lack of personal attention to one another...the inability to focus on each others needs and likely the monitary aspect of the cost of your trip.

Well did you discuss the dreams in the meantime. Where they similtaneous. Its quite possible that worries about one dream triggered off the others dream. The dream mind is very suggestive. It can link to premonitions but can also link to the simple fears in life and will play them out in a worst possible scenario.

sailrmc: I think you might be onto something here, we've certainly been tense with each other and while we only have about a month left apart the distance is taking its toll emotionally.

unclesirbobbyrobson: we didn't discuss the dreams prior to either of us having one of them, and they were actually on different nights, a day apart. I wrote mine down in my dream journal and she brought hers up in conversation the next day. I agree about the worst possible scenario idea, that seems to be the theme of my dreams lately.
