Re-ocurring dream person

I am constantly having dreams about this guy I was pretty good friends with for awhile. Were still friends I guess, but he moved to another state for college and I usually only see him during Christmas break and summer break when he comes home.
We had this weird relationship...we would talk a lot online, would hang out with groups of people together, and went on a couple trips in a group of friends togeter (we were friends with a lot of the same people, which is how I knew him). But, I never really hung out with him alone; one of the biggest reasons was because online he would always talk about wanting to hook-up and such, which I admit I had a crush on him, but wasnt really into it, since I know he just wanted fun, not a relationship and I didnt feel right about it. ANYWAY, after a few years all the talk of hooking up eventually stopped, we both are in relationships now, and we dont really even talk, mostly because we dont see each other in person anymore, and we grew apart sadly.

During the past couple years, I have been having so many dreams about this guy. I have no idea why! I honestly wont even think about him for weeks and then I will have a dream about him probably 3 or 4 times a month, sometimes more. All kinds of dreams, not even one particular subject. Sometimes its flirty, or were in a relationship. Sometimes hes just there, or were just talking about nothing important. What led me to post this is that I had one last night that he was walking around my yard with his friends, totally ignoring the fact that I lived there, and when he was about to leave he came inside and said, something like "Why havent you said hi yet? Now Im leaving" and gave me a long hug and then took me in the car with him and wouldnt let me leave and was saying something about my flip flop tan lines on my feet. hah

Ive been in a relationship with a great guy now for 3 years. We live together and are happy. I feel bad when I have these dreams, because sometimes when I have one thats the romantic kind, I think about it a lot during the day, and like it....but i dont want a relationship with this guy.

I just dont get why he appears in so many of my dreams. I guess because of the way he was when I knew him? But its not even like he was a major part of my life when I knew him, so I doubt I have this huge mind connection with him, or do I? Weird.

I have been through the same thing, but at a constant for a year or more. Even if you don't want a relationship, you still probably miss him, and will for awhile. Just give yourself time to let him go. If the dreams don't stop, perhaps you really do want to be with him, at least according to your inner self. Keep a dream journal and/or talk to a specialist if needed, then decide what to do. Believe me, getting it out of yourself feels extraordinary.
