Can't see their face

I had my little brother pass away a couple years ago and i often have dreams of walking and talking with him but am unable to see his face.
also my girlfriend lost her grandmother and experiences the same sort of dreams. is there a reason for this and if so, what is it?

The only grandfather I ever really loved died a few years ago, and I dreamed of him once or twice myself. I don't really remember if his face was there or not, though.

However, back to your dream: I know you probably miss your brother very much, as it sounds like you were (and, in some ways, still are) close. Dreaming about him probably reminds you of things you used to do together so that you won't forget him. The part where his face doesn't show may mean that you have perhaps recovered from the loss, but that you still want to keep him in your memories, as he is and once was a part of you. You may have forgotten some things about him, but you still get the big picture.

Even though my brothers can be very annoying and bothersome at times, I would be very sad to lose them. My advice is just to love and appreciate the ones you love while you still have them, even if they are kind of crazy.
