Default A vivid dream about giant lizards

I had the strangest dream last night--can anyone help interpret it? It was very long and detailed with lots of characters, so bear with me!

I was working at a scuba diving center at the mouth of a lagoon (although I never actually dove during the dream). The water was green, but clear--you could see to the bottom. The lagoon also happened to be inhabited by giant swimming lizards with extremely long tails (like a comodo dragon but several times larger) called Centurions. The lizards were of no real threat to humans and tended to ignore them, but their claws could be dangerous.

Somehow, I was standing on a tiny square piece of dock outside an empty hut trying to take a shower to get ready for some big event coming up. There was no way to get out of the hut or to the dive center on the other side of the lagoon without getting in the water. The dock I was standing on was wobbly and falling apart, and the holey shower curtains around the shower kept falling down. I could hear a girl getting ready on the backside of my shack, as if there was one shack divided in half with no way to get from one side to the other without circling around the outside of the lagoon.

A guy I recently met while traveling and had a one night stand with saw my troubles and jumped into the lagoon with a rope attached to a long dock and started swimming toward me. He got about halfway and then reached into the water to grab a lizard to pull him the rest of the way across. When he arrived with the long dock that stretched nearly across the lagoon, I tried to tie it to my own little piece of dock and bolt them together, but the dock started rocking, and I fell into the water with a plank of wood. Immediately I sank to the bottom of the lagoon like a rock. On my back at the bottom, I could see all the way to the surface, but I was stuck despite trying to swim back up. I looked down, and one of the giant lizards was calmly holding me down with one of his claws.

There was a commotion and suddenly I was at the surface again. My lover was explaining to me that before you intervene with a lizard, you have to see where his claws are, and he had somehow scared the lizard away. During the time I was under, an old man had built an elaborate and strong dock that spanned the distance between my dock and the dive center. He was just finishing up when I got to the surface and very calmly and slowly smiled.

At the other end of the new dock I saw a dive instructor from a scuba shop I used to work at (who also happened to be an ex-lover) smiling and waving. I resumed taking a shower, put on a funky red dress and cowboy boots.

Thats the end. There are some other parts I can't remember entirely: other minor characters, an elaborate and dodgy dock that spanned the far side of the lagoon and lead to the other side of my shack...

Any help trying to sort this one out would be great!

Hello Raspberryjunkie,
My comments will be in blue. The technique that I will be using looks at the dream a line at a time or maybe even groups of lines simultaneously. Sometimes the translations become a bit repetitive but typically the dreams meaning is clearer. See what you think.

I had the strangest dream last night--can anyone help interpret it? It was very long and detailed with lots of characters, so bear with me!

I was working at a scuba diving center at the mouth of a lagoon (although I never actually dove during the dream). The water was green, but clear--you could see to the bottom.Green and clear is good. This gives a pretty clear statement as to what this dreams meaning will be....I will comment on this feature later. The lagoon also happened to be inhabited by giant swimming lizards with extremely long tails (like a comodo dragon but several times larger) called Centurions.Again another indicator... The lizards were of no real threat to humans and tended to ignore them, but their claws could be dangerous. This first paragraph lets the dreamer know that the basis of this dream contains subconscious thoughts that concern drives that are present within us. At the base of brain just at the top of the spine lies our ancient most aspect of thought. It is the part of the brain that controls the drives within us that automatically guarantee that our species will not die out. Anything concerning procreation, personal safety, attraction to opposite sex, etc id located here. I always find it incredible that people who have dreams regarding reptiles or ancient species of life, when they name this species they dream about have a name that connotes ancient ancestry (yours being Centurion. The name that your subconscious mind gave to this lizard was highly appropriate as it indicates old or ancient and relates to what has incubated your dream....old or ancient drives that are within you.

Somehow, I was standing on a tiny square piece of dock outside an empty hut trying to take a shower to get ready for some big event coming up.Yes, getting ready! There was no way to get out of the hut or to the dive center on the other side of the lagoon without getting in the water. The water is conveniently an obstacle that you had to immerse yourself into...just like the fact that you are about to immerse yourself fully, into this dream. The dock I was standing on was wobbly and falling apart, and the holey shower curtains around the shower kept falling down.Representative of the fact that there is nothing to hide, your thoughts from this dream are to be clear and memorable. I could hear a girl getting ready on the backside of my shack, as if there was one shack divided in half with no way to get from one side to the other without circling around the outside of the lagoon.Just like the conscious mind (waking mind) is completely separate from the subconscious mind (dreaming mind). To this point everything in your dream is architecture, which lines out, from where the dream emanates (that part of the mind that controls internal drives), and all of the bricks and mortar that will be needed as you go forward and look into the symbolism. This is the lay of the land...

A guy I recently met while traveling and had a one night stand with saw my troubles and jumped into the lagoon with a rope attached to a long dock and started swimming toward me. He got about halfway and then reached into the water to grab a lizard to pull him the rest of the way across. So here we go. The dream deals with attraction and the drive that has allowed our species to thrive...sexual attraction. When he arrived with the long dock that stretched nearly across the lagoon, I tried to tie it to my own little piece of dock and bolt them together,This bit shows that you are not just attractive to the opposite sex but you facilitate that attraction...showing that the drive is alive within you. but the dock started rocking, either symbolizing the act of sex OR that there were some shaky times in dealing with this one night friend. and I fell into the water with a plank of wood. The fall into the water with the wood is pretty self explanatory as to the fact that you enjoyed intimacy with this person....as well the wood represents the fact that you are thinking of the situation...pleasant recall. Immediately I sank to the bottom of the lagoon like a rock. On my back at the bottom, I could see all the way to the surface, but I was stuck despite trying to swim back up. I looked down, and one of the giant lizards was calmly holding me down with one of his claws. The lizard, being representative of not only the sexual drive the fact that this drive is alive within you and you cannot get away from it as it somewhat holds you captive. This symbolism is rather common because it connotes that the drive is a huge factor in what you do, and yet it is incomplete in a sense (drive without a long term relationship). This is ancient animalistic instinct being depicted, over practical or logical aspects that benefit relationship. The dream symbolically depicts the drive in it's most form...a form that is meant to fill the world with more humans.

There was a commotion and suddenly I was at the surface again. My lover was explaining to me that before you intervene with a lizard, you have to see where his claws are, and he had somehow scared the lizard away. Now logic comes in to play...It is wise to know the intent of the opposite sex before one gets involved. During the time I was under, an old man had built an elaborate and strong dock that spanned the distance between my dock and the dive center. So the wise aspect of you has stepped in, conveying that you have had a renewed sense of wisdom that says be strong (think with your mind and not with the drive that is alive within you). He was just finishing up when I got to the surface and very calmly and slowly smiled.Do you see that this whole concept has been sored up (pardon the pun...by the way dreams are often full of metaphor, innuendo, and word play that convey the importance of the message)

At the other end of the new dock I saw a dive instructor from a scuba shop I used to work at (who also happened to be an ex-lover) smiling and waving. I resumed taking a shower, put on a funky red dress and cowboy boots.Looks like more fun, but the scuba diver is a classic symbol in dreams that shows that the dream is sent via the subconscious mind and it will deliver an opportunity to dive into your deepest thoughts and memories so that you may gain benefit from it's efforts. The red dress and regalia show again that this is about sex and your internal drive that is all but to blame.

Thats the end. There are some other parts I can't remember entirely: other minor characters, an elaborate and dodgy dock that spanned the far side of the lagoon and lead to the other side of my shack...

Any help trying to sort this one out would be great!
Ok your message comes in the form of acknowledgment that define the ancient internal forces that are alive within you, and give a side note (in the form of innuendo) that it is wise to be wise...to be strong, and think things out...danger, and other aspects lurk.
I think that now you can say that you have a better understanding as well as an acknowledgment that you need to be careful, and wise.

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated...
