Over the last few weeks, I've had two nightmares about a cougar or cougars getting into my house or apartment and stalking me...Like they're thinking with a human mind. In the house nightmare, I'm watching kids when we realize there is a cougar, and we can't seem to keep her out no matter how many doors we shut before finally being trapped in one room where I find a weapon and hope my partner shows up. In the second dream involving my apartment in waking life, there are several cougars in the building, everyone is escaping while the landlord tries to hunt them down (They even have the ability to use the elevator) but me, who for some reason, feels that I MUST make it to my room on the 5th floor, and I'm afraid because my partner isn't around.
In real life, I was stalked by a cougar after my car broke down in a local state park (My cell battery had died, I was alone, because I went to the park w/out telling anyone to cool down after having an argument with my parents, had only a small weak flashlight with me, my cellphone had died, it was night, and I was about 8 miles out of town on a little used road) before other sightings were reported in the area, so maybe this is a relapse of the real terror and shock I experienced 5 years ago? Also, my partner and I are expecting our first child next month. Could his not being there during my time of need in my dreams be a symbolization of an unconcious real life fear? We generally have a great relationship, he's been very supportive and loving, and we both wanted children later on, but thought we couldn't conceive, so that doesn't really make sense to me. Thank-you for your time and answers, Shlgrie |

We often try to interpret dreams in simplistic ways. In your case the simple definitions are probably of no use. You have had a very traumatic incident concerning cougars. Dreams compare one thing to another - so this dream probably is using this major trauma to point to some fears that are very alive in your mind. It probably just means that you are freaked out by the pregnancy and you are worried that something completely traumatic could be around the corner.
But I really do not hold with this belief that events keep getting dragged up. With major traumas it maybe the case - rape or murder you never really deal with. But this is something that you should have got over by now. ------------------------ We often go to the movies or watch TV and can get highly involved in the plot and emotions that the characters go through. Dreams are very much like this. If a dream seems highly emotional then it maybe is capturing the emotions that you feel about some situation in your life. So see how these little movies really captured your emotions from yesterday. Pick out crucial moments from the previous day and see how the emotions and feelings are replayed. Many dreams simply capture the emotions that we feel - many simply capture emotions that are easy to recognise such as happiness, sadness and frustration. When we watch a TV show it may not bear any direct relation to our own real lives but still we can identify with the characters in simple ways. So forget the detailed plot of a dream and just try to get a clue from the dreams simple emotions. Then see what relevance they have to your own life. How do the characters in the dream feel and how are they similar to your own real life? Hi,
You had to be woken from sleep for some reason and your subconscious based the dream on your past experience. Having the first baby is always a worrying time and it might impact on your dream. It is also possible that you suffer from morning sickness due to the pregnancy. You may also feel general discomfort in your sleep and need the dream to wake you up. Dreams are there to look after you and to helpyou sleep and wake. There is nothing to worry about! Cheers Wolfjk
