Default Bear Attempting to Get in Room

Hi everyone! Just found this site while trying to research this dream I had a couple of nights ago. Great resource!

My dream is pretty simple - I was in a house somewhere (now this part is fuzzy. I don't specifically remember it being my boyfriends' house, but the walls reminded me of it, old-fashioned door jambs, wooden doors etc. In the dream I didn't think I was in his house.) and I became aware of a large bear on the other side of the door. The bear was trying to get into the room I was in. I was certain we would be killed or mauled if it got in. "We" being myself and another unidentified person in the room, who I feel like was possibly a child. The room had two doors, and I was leaning up against one door the bear was pushing against trying to keep him out. I could see the door bending inwards and could feel the pressure but I was able to keep him out. There was another door in the room that opened into a sort of pass-thru hallway into another room, and I was trying to instruct the other person to go guard that door, realizing they were too small to do it. I felt helpless that I couldn't guard both doors and was trying to go back and forth between them. The bear steadily pushed on the door and I pushed back as hard as I could, wedging myself on the floor against it. I eventually woke up. The bear didn't get in.

A little background: I don't have kids but my boyfriend does, however they are only with him part time. I see them only occasionally and am not terribly close to them.

I can't think of anyone who's been aggressive towards me lately. I almost wonder if this has something to do with the hibernation aspect, the subconscious, etc......and it was such a powerful dream I feel like there's something huge that represents the bear that I'm supposed to be looking at. Something I perhaps really don't want to look at?

Any insight would be appreciated!

The bear, symbolically represents insecurities that you have, toward a certain situation. A bear typically finesses it's way in, (so to speak) only to take something away from you (in this case possibly love and intimacy that your boyfriend. It represents that which you are deprived of when your visitors come to stay. Now this sounds self centered and in plain bad form...but in reality the dream tells you how you feel, without sugar coating the situation. The subconscious mind is this way. The dreamer may not always like the message but the subconscious mind does not lie (when taking into account the meaning of the symbolism as presented).
These are normal feelings...

When something happens in sleep that requires you to move or wake up, the subconscious creates a dream with a threatening figure and a story line to move you or wake you up! In sleep you often make the moves the dream suggests. In this dream you were actually pushed against something or someone, if you slept with him. The fear and helplessness woke you up in the end. The reason could have been tight bed clothes or cover, or just the need to turn over and change sleeping position.
Cheers Wolfjk

Hi,

Bear is interpreted as a thief , silly rival or enemy. If dreamt was sitting on a bear means he will receive some abjectness by the governor. If dreamt he killed the bear means he will overcome the rival or enemy. If dreamt ate some bear meat or had a bear skin with him means he will receive a fear.If dreamt hunted a female bear means will marry an unlucky silly woman. If dreamt a bear came into his house means an unlucky silly person will come there. If dreamt he killed a bear or was riding a bear means he will overcome the enemy.
I think your rival will cause some disturbances.

Well you obviously have some good knowledge of dreams already. The bear need not link to physical aggression. Its more linked to emotional aggression. That can appear in many forms. It may even not be symbolic of other people who are aggressive. It may link to you trying to keep such emotions at bay.

Grumpiness is an amotion that I would link to bears. They are very insistent and never give in. Yes they are violent but their main symbolism probably links to their own lack of communication. You just cannot reason with a bear. So look out for those types of qualities. It could be that you have spotted them in others but equally it maybe that you are trying to cut these bad tendencies out yourself.

Equally it may just link to some guy down the post office who was really annoying. Dreams can concentrate on seemingly insignificant events like that. Because how we deal with such matters says a lot about how we cope with stress in general

------------------
One way of telling how vital dreams are is to study people who are deprived of sleep and dreams.Sleep deprivation is very dangerous if it continues for extended periods. If you are deprived of sleep for several days then you will slip into madness. The reason for this is that sleep and dreams are linked to vital brain functions.

During the day we store up new thoughts and experiences within short term memory blocks. So if we are deprived sleep these become overloaded. The mind has no more space to store new feelings so these are merely forgotten.

During sleep vital brain waves emerge. Beta waves and theta waves are only ever detected within the brain at night. These help us process through those new feelings and experiences stored in short term memory. We integrate these new feelings into long term memory blocks. So if you do not sleep then you will not be updating your thoughts. You will not be building a bigger picture.
