Default Lice

I had a dream last night that I had head lice - it was more like an infestation of head lice. There was a moment in the dream where I dreamed waking up and looking down at my pillow which was covered in lice. The strange thing about the lice, which actually didn't occur to me until I woke up, is that I couldn't kill them. Not that I couldn't get rid of them, I couldn't kill the individual pest when I caught one. I would squeeze it and when I let go it would just hop right back onto my head.

Someone suggested that my head may have been itching and the physical sensation caused the dream. But my head didn't itch in the dream. The dream was very intensely emotional. I felt anxiety over having the lice and the need to hide them from other people, as well as getting rid of them. I remember thinking, "where could I have gotten them? From whom?"

For the life of me I can't figure out what would cause me to have this dream.

Hi,

Lice mean wife/hubbie and children or family. If one dreamt had lice on his body means his money will increase. If dreamt he killed the lice means he will overcome the rivals. If dreamt many lice bit him means people will speak behind the back of him.

Dreams symbolize our actual thoughts. Sometimes they can be on a higher level(precognitive or telepathy). But mostly they are symbolic representations of actual thoughts or feelings. They refer to the way we use such dream symbols iun a wider sense. So lice could refer to anything that has pestered you.. anything bugging you. Even depressions or illnesses that are bugging you.

There is a further clue in the dream. You are asking yourself - "where could I have got this from". So ask yourself what the bugs are and how other people or situations are infecting your life.

If you can think of something then its likely that you have found what triggered your dream

------------------------

Dreams deal with extremes. If you truly understood the meaning of your dream it may be quite negative. We are our own worst judge. We try to detect signals coming from other people. Do people feel we are not cool or incompetent? The dream mind is often very harsh and honest. It tells us things that we do not like to admit to ourselves. It tells us things that we fear. Its worries about how others are seeing us. It’s a big harsh dose of reality.

Yet the dream mind also heads in the other direction. It captures our fantasies and positive feelings. Sometimes you wake up in a positive mood and feel that you are going to tackle a task in a particular way. You are invigorated and positive. Dreams then help motivate us. But often if we go too far in one direction our dreams tell us to cool down and not get carried away. This makes sense really. The dream mind then explores feelings connected with our judgment. We need to motivate ourselves but we also need to be realistic.

Hi,
It is not easy to figure out what reason a dream is dreamt for. As someone suggested to you your head might have itched.
Sometimes the sleeper needs to move or turn over in sleep or move some part of the body. If one watches a sleeper, one can observe some movements. The sleeper tries to make the movement the dream suggests.

The above quote from your dream might suggest that you needed to open and close your fingers. If you do a lot of typing or do repetitive movements, it is possible that you had some pain or cramp in your fingers. Why the lice?
Having headlice in school is an embarrassing experience and the subconscious often uses emotional experiences from the past to make the dream more vivid.
Yet another possibility is that you had some embarrassing experiences recently and it impacted on your sleep. Your subconscious expresses it in the idea of having lice.
Take your pick!
cheers Wolfjk

I was hoping you would reply Wolf. Now that I think about it you're onto something. I've been typing A LOT more recently and I've spent the last couple of months in a very intensive summer course. I feel great anxiety over the possibility of failing the bar and shame I would feel if I were to do so. Once you mentioned needing to move my fingers things clicked into place.

Thank you all for your input.

I agree, with Unclesir, something is bugging you but being more specific: That which seems to bother you is low self esteem, or the way that you feel that others see or perceive you. Others seem to take advantage of you and it is difficult to pull yourself out of this phase or aspect of your life.
