Default Hamster dream

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone has an idea what this dream means.

I regularly, particularly when stressed have a dream that I have or someone in my family has a pet hamster that I have forgotten to feed. I go to the cage and there is a dead hamster. I start to cry and while I do the cage becomes filled with either lots of mutant hamsters who are trying to bite me and each other or it would be a giant spider or something.

Sometimes I even think the hamster is a human that I know and I talk to it about something in a normal way.

Please help

Well that dream makes some kind of sense. Dreams deep down link to the very ideas that are forming in our heads. This dream has relevance to feeling stressed. Its using metaphors though to convey some deep message.

Pets are something that we get pleasure from. They give us unconditional love. They are totally dependant on us. A hamster is a somewhat docile creature.

What comes to mind with this dream is something else thats really quite similar yet also a bit different(thats what dreams do - they compare one thing to something else). When we feel depressed (or feel stressed) we may turn to comfort foods. We eat chocolate or do something that makes us feel better.

But sometimes things can get a bit out of hand. They (to use the words of the dream ) MUTATE. So those little things that make you feel better when are feeling stressed or down suddenly start getting out of hand. That chocolate eating maybe becomes a little excessive. It doesn't make you feel better.

And when we feel stressed we start not doing the things that are logical. We stop keeping to our routine. You maybe as in the dream stoip doing something essential such as feeding a pet.

So really the dream has relevance for you in real life. It means that you have realized that some aspect of your behavior has gotten out of hand. You are trying to make yourself feel better by doing things that you feel make you happy but are now realizing that you are doing them excessively.

Dreams will do this. They show you making judgements about what is happening. That you are sensing how you are coping and now realize that things could be done in an altogether better way.

------------------------
The truth is that dream interpreting is not so easy. Yes you can tell what dream symbols mean by matching them up to real life. For instance a fight scene in a dream may depict some real life fight or frustration that you are struggling against. But interpreting dreams blind is not so easy. Dreams symbols can have many meanings and few symbols appear in some totally clear way. A shark may appear in a dream but in a very non standard way. For instance a shark maybe hidden under the floorboards. A shark maybe dancing with your grandmother. These are not easy to interpret. But just try to remember that underlying any dream is some concept feeling or idea. The dream mind deals with thought processes. It deals with emotions such as love and trust but also creative ideas. So try to place your dream symbols in the here and now.
