Help with a dream

I stumbled across a link to the site while looking for help with a dream I had last week that's been bothering me. When I woke up I didn't remember the context of the dream but I did write down the key events. I was standing in a field talking with someone I didnt know when I felt a very intense pain in my lower back, like something was biting me. I distinctly remember cringing when I felt the pain. The pain was coming from under my shirt and I tried unsuccessfully several times to brush away whatever was biting me. Finally I was able to lift up my shirt and was horrified at what I saw. Starting at my tailbone and wrapping around my leg was a very thin green snake (I am both afraid of, and strongly dislike snakes), roughly the diameter of an ink pen. The snake wrapped around my leg and across my calf with its tail ending by my ankle. The entire thing was stuck to me like it had been sewn/glued in place. It took me what seemed like 20 minutes to pull the snake off. When I did pull it off it came away like a leech would. The snake left a 1/4" deep gouge down my back and leg, but it was black like it had been cut out then burned. The pain of finally pulling the snake off was very very real. Not sure what happened to the snake after I removed it, but I spent the rest of my dream doing normal activities, but my attention kept being drawn back to the gouge/burn down my leg. The wound did not bleed or hurt, but it seemed to be the centerpiece of the dream. I then woke up.

For the last week I find myself during the day looking down at my calf expecting to see the wound. I'm not thinking about the dream at all, I just keep doing it and can't seem to stop. I have never in my life been bothered by any dream, nor felt "actual pain" in my dream and I'd very much appreciate anything anyone has to offer.
