ex boyfriend still talking to ex girlfriend;stabbing me in back (literally)

alright so my boyfriend and i were only dating for a little over two months, and about 3 weeks ago we broke up. (over the internet!)
he had been pretty mean to me in the past but i was too into him to actually let him go. we lived in different states but only about 2 hours away from each other. i'd stay with him for weeks at a time then come back home. once i'd get home, we would argue a lot because he was in a different state and i didn't really trust him. the last few days we were dating i had found out he had a friend over his house, who was a girl. he never told me she was coming over and when i confronted him about it, he said he didnt need to tell me because she was just a friend and they only watched tv. i think i was thinking the same thing any other girl would..why would he keep that from me if nothing was going on? anyway, he broke up with me because he said he wasn't going to waste his gas coming to see me and if i wanted to see him i'd have to make the trip to see him, which is what i have always done.

i've been trying to convince myself he's not worth my time but i'm obviously still not over him.
last night, i had a dream that i went to visit him, and we were at a party, with familiar faces. somehow, i found out that he was still, or was talking to an ex girlfriend named alexandra, or something. when i confronted him about it, he started acting mean towards me which isnt a surprise, but then i broke down crying in front of him. i sat on his lap and started crying, and then i realized he was actually (literally) stabbing me in the back with a knife. (weird?)
i don't know what this dream means. i'm thinking it's a sign that he was actually doing things behind my back and was keeping it from me.
any ideas?
