PLz Help - Dreams about the rape of my child

I had a terrible dream last night that some men kidnapped my husband, my daughter, my son and I. The men proceeded to rape my children in our presence and I pleaded for them to stop and my children were screaming and I could not help them.

I had dreams similar to this in the past but this one last night left me shaken. I could not sleep, I kept checking out my children. And I am very worried...

When looking for meaning in our dreams we must first ask if there is anything from real life reflected in the dream. My guess is that your children have never faced such a horrific event. Next look to see if anything depicted in the dream has touched realism of your life. I will take another guess and say no. If perchance there has been such an event where you were raped even someone that you know very well has gone through this terror then perhaps the dream is about the fear that has been incubated within you as a result. In such a case it would be wise to address this fear through outside help, maybe even support groups.

If there not any situation similar to that which I have already mentioned then the dream could still be totally founded on fear, weather rational or irrational, fear is the emotion that you must deal with. In this case it might be of great help to participate in education sessions dealing with rape prevention.

In some way the translation is still one based upon fear maybe parental, fear of not being able to help those who most count on you for safety and security, your children. When our children face trouble and pain there is nothing more that one could want than to protect them, at all costs. The parental instinct and need to protect our children runs deep and therefore is perhaps being reinforced in your dream. One may think that this is a cruel way for the mind to approach such a subject, but in reality, you have to agree that it's point is made.

Still one other possibility exists, that of symbolism...In which case the children in the dream, represent the aspect of child "within". With this in mind, it is easy to understand that this dream might have been incubated by a waking life event. In this case, waking life, circumstances have contributed to a dream message that spells out the fact that you have either been ridiculed for acting like a child. This has been and all out assault on your dignity. Acting impulsive or whimsical as a child would act has been transferred into a fear. Maybe, you have been criticized for not acting responsibly or even not acting your age? This last paragraph depicts normal dream response to someone who has been ridiculed or reprimanded for acting childish in some way.

Summing it up, think first about fear that you have, that you may not be able to protect your children when they are in danger...if this is does not hit home progress to the next possibility and so on.

Thank you for your insight. There is one thing from the dream I remembered that I did not post. The people involved seems familiar to my family and me. When they took my children - my children did not put up a fight.

With what you have said in your comment one of two possibilities should be considered. Again if, you or someone that you know very well has been raped in real life then this dream addresses the fear that since it happened to you or someone that you know it could very well happen to your children. When evaluating a dream always give first consideration to that which is real...because then the fear would be of a more rational basis.

If it is not true, if you are not a victim or very close friends with an actual victim then symbolism would be considered. The dream would then be a comment by the subconscious mind that you have a fear of being reprimanded or singled out in some way. The rape is symbolic of having endured an injustice that was intentional, a kind of awareness that you are afraid of being subjected to a vindictive action perpetrated by someone (this someone I speak of, could even be yourself, a self destructive or demeaning action).

If you are thinking that this is possibly a precognitive dream then you will simply have to wait and see. There is no way of knowing something is precog until it actually happens. In most cases a dream such as this is irrationally based fear, if you are certain that the environment that you live in is safe.
Once again, a clue to this being symbolic rather than real, is the fact that you felt that you somehow knew the perpetrator ( often symbolic for the perpetrator being yourself). If you have poor self esteem or are hard on yourself about some aspect of your life, something that you blame yourself for, then this dream is likely addressing that...irresponsible behavior, childishness etc.

Well dreams may relate to real life in ways that I cannot even begin to guess.

But this dreasm involves rape. Such dreams canb link to the wider emotions thatb we associate with rape... eg powerlessness,humiliation. So how do such emotions feature in your thoughts right now. How do you feel as if your hoe and family life have been tarnished. Do you feel as if money happening?
