Hi,
A quick background, for several years I've had this strange occurrence where I'd begin to fall asleep and before I fully slipped away, a series of strange symbols+scenarios would appear to me. The imagery I'd see is really vivid and the colors are out of this world. And these would tend to happen before a change in my life was to occur. One time, before the start of a new relationship and job, I had an image of a skyscraper with the sun rising and setting behind it. According to several sources, this meant I was starting something new and it would lead to the progression towards my goals. So far it has. Recently, I had one these symbolic dreams about a single floating eye. The iris is black, its disembodied, and at first its staring up. But then it turns around and stares at me. Slightly creepy right? So do any of you have any idea what this symbolism might be referring to? Thanks |

Haha, bizarre.
But for me, I'm just about to fall asleep. I'll have these images about 10 seconds before I fall asleep, so I can actually tell when i'm about to pass out. And my eyes are closed and everything. Kind of like still being conscious and alert while you're dreaming. Any takers on what this could mean? |

I rarely say that something always has a certain meaning, but I will say it this time. Dreaming about an eye or eyes watching you always has to do with understanding of something in your life. In the specific context that you give it has to do with the subconscious mind watching you.
The message is that you cannot ever pull a fast one or hide anything from the subconscious mind. It observes in complete detail, everything that you encounter in your waking life. As well one might say that sometimes this dream has to do with your conscience as well (that would be reconciling what you have done or are thinking about doing with the personal code or boundaries that you have set for yourself, that which you know to be right from wrong. The processes of the mind are incredible. The subconscious mind is you mentor and friend, as well as many other roles including moral police. sailrmc |

Something that popped in as I was reading your post was the idea that human beings have two eyes to see. We cannot see anything clearly and properly as far as perspective goes, without both eyes. Together they create perspective. From this human level life is "dualistic". We see good and bad, right and wrong, black and white, up and down, etc.
Inside us, however, we have the ability to unify these seeming opposites and develop what has actually been termed a "single eye". Being able to see life from a unified perspective, a wholeness, incorporating far more than merely what meets the human eye(s). This "ability of perception" is one often attributed to the Greater Self or "Higher" self... A single eye to the universe, in my sense of things, indicates an understanding of life and a perspective on Being, that is not just "human-centric" but rather incorporates the whole self. If I had this visual event occur, I would take it to mean that this "wholeness perspective" or the perception of life that I previously assumed only "higher" beings, angels, god could have (evident by the eye initially looking upward)... is now entering my human experience directly (the creepy, intimate and personal dead on stare). Couple this idea with your own experience of when these types of visions occur for you, I'd say you have a heads up about what this newest phase of your life will be about. Blessings! Sowelu |

at the cost of pursuing a material one. When the eye looks up it looks to the heavens, aspirations, desires, and goals. Perhaps you are too focused on your goals. The eye turning reveals a transition that is about to or is slowly taking place. When the eye focuses on you it is telling you to look at yourself with single vision and go within to ponder or meditate on what is really important. Your third eye is all seeing, yet you are detached from it because of an unbalance somewhere in your life. I'd hazard to say you have placed your own material desires above your higher power. While money is essential in this existence, work and money are only two aspects of a balanced life. It sounds like you want to pursue something greater, perhaps even a higher calling but are neglecting it because of other things.

Thanks for the responses. I always find it incredible how accurate dreams can be in helping clarify our lives and situations. That being said, I wanted to reply to the following:

So putting it together, It has to do with a new, unified perspective where i'm looking at things more objectively (from a higher ground). One of the reasons I need to do this is because it may be morally necessary, or another may be because I have a higher calling and need to avoid falling into material lust in order to press on. Good stuff... Thanks |

No, not Freudian (no sexual suggestion or content leading that way). The conscience comment had to do more with being aware that you are being observed.

Opened eye = awakened consciousness
Black iris = dim perspective Disembodied = apart from other pieces/parts that allow it to function correctly Perhaps you're waking up in to a reality or a world view that is not how you should be looking at the world? I'm speaking poetically. Although, is there a direction your taking that's creating a fog or unclarity? Also, there's a humility and an awareness of our humanity, our need for healing when we're looking "up". But the ego centric self, staring at itself is bound to be deceived and operate out of fear. I think you may be able to fit together these pieces your self, but many times I feel it can be as simple as a puzzle. Maybe you've figured it out by now, though! :0) |
