Baby in Bath Tub

In my the dream I was in a house, I had a baby in my arms (it couldn't have been more then 3 or 4 months old) and it wouldn't stop crying, so for some reason I decided to give the baby a bath. I placed the baby (I don't know if it was a boy or a girl) in the bath tub and turned the warm water on. I raced down the stairs to where my father and some one else were talking to each other. I tried to explain to my father that this baby (I don't know who's it was or where it came from) wouldn't stop crying, and I needed him to help me because i didn't know what to do. He ignored me as if I were a 4 year old child that was interrupting adults while they were talking, and waved his hand as if to tell me to go away. So I went back upstairs to the bathroom and when i entered i realized that the baby had stopped crying, when I looked down I saw that the water was past the baby's face. I reached into the water to pull it out and the water was ice cold and so was the baby, (I don't know if any one has ever heard or seen a 'water baby', i had one as a kid, it was a little rubber doll that you filled with water so it seemed more real) when I picked it up thats exactly what it felt like a ice cold fake baby filled with water. I woke up feeling as if i were going to be sick.

My niece, nephew and my son every time i would give them a bath up until they were probably 6 months old i would get flash backs of the way the baby in the bath tub looked and felt.
Does any one know why after so much time, even though i know it was a dream, why it would still have any affect on me?
