Last night I got a weird dream. Currently I am very unsatisfied with my job. The dream feels very realistic and the details still very clear.
-------------------------------------------------------------- In my dream, I got a new job. But the position is working in an asylum. I am supposed to support the operations in the asylum. The hospital is very dark and eerie and also the furniture is all so rundown. Then the asylum is located somewhere in those pre-war British colony buildings. Then my seat is a place beside the receptionist and need to face patients. And my direct reporting officer is an evil-looking, haggard and old woman who always scolds me. Then I need take public transport to get to the workplace. And I always cannot recognize the bus-stop which I need to get off. And I always have to walk a few bus-stops back in order to get to my workplace. -------------------------------------------------------------- What does this dream implies? I find it rather creepy that I dream of working in a asylum. |

Your dream would indicate that it is connected to your present job. In its descriptive way it suggests how you feel about its environment and those with whom you work since getting your present position. Travelling by bus indicates your reluctance to get to work. Your feelings of loathing are appreciated.

When I first read this dream I was floored!...thinking that I had seen it all, but your dream is the first to exemplify the processes that are going in in your mind (and of our minds, really).
First let me explain why I was floored. As I read your dream, I immediately found myself back in my second year of college psychology. My prof was amazing!! She was incredible for so many different reasons. One reason was, that she would at any time requested, take her students into her real life psych practice. There she could allow her students to experience, first hand , those who were under her care. Without taking more of your time to explain, this was a pivotal moment in my life. She said one thing over and over to her students throughout that year. She said, our dreaming mind is so very important to us as individuals, in fact it actually helps to shape us into the people that we become. AND... of all the aspects and capabilities of the mind, one in particular had her in total had her in awe. This most prominent aspect and capability was, "that the subconscious mind "is genuinely our on-board shrink!!" She went on to say in some dreams the role is actually cast where there is a shrink present. Not for a moment, do I want you to believe that that I just said you were a basket case. Not even for a second!! I am not saying this at all. I am saying that your mind so cleverly portrayed a scenario of you having taken on the new job in an asylum for the purpose of showing the parallel functioning of the mind in that respect. It is our coping mechanism, it is in the process of handling feelings and emotions that emanate from within, as a result of your current dissatisfaction with aspects of your life. The mind has set up shop, and is ready to keep things straight, organized, and well thought out simulating the logic that actually takes place within you and your mind. You have summoned the applicable strength and logic to help you deal with internal outbursts or possible short circuits and you are in control!! At the same time, you are given a dose of your emotional condition. The furniture directly relates to...as does the lighting in your dream. Being run down, speaks for itself, maybe it was a bit old? If you were to remember each piece of furniture that was depicted it would show how that particular "department" within you is doing(for lack of a better word at this time). The kitchen table may be completely covered with dirty dishes or the bed may need new linens. The sofa may be well worn out, where your head would lay? Each piece of furniture refers to it's functional purpose and is being shown in parallel as to, how you feel, and how you see yourself at this time. If you can remember specifics about the various pieces of furniture shown in your dream, it will directly relate to your feelings and emotions with respect to your discontent, in your job etc. The setting "pre war" is so very expressive, insinuating that things are soon going to blow! Yes, the mind is saying, if you don't do something now, your discontent will turn into and all out war! (of course this in figuratively stated, but make no mistake, things are not good now and the innuendo is that they will only get worse if left unattended. The mind is letting you know that it is time to come face to face with all aspects of yourself and how each one feels...another words, it is time to interview each and every facet that comprises the total and complete person that you are the person that you are. It appears as if you are ridiculed and emotionally ridden (in your job). As well, the innuendo is made, that, as a result of your job situation, you are becoming disoriented and unable to recognize the real you. The genuine and wonderful person that resides inside of you is in a tail spin, possibly blocking some of the harsh reality of just how badly this job "experience" is damaging your psyche. Yes, your on board shrink is saying that it is really time that you thoroughly evaluate yourself, and the toll that this job takes on you....AND that you act now in your own behalf. Overall, this dream implies that you are on the edge of being unable to function and that immediate change is overdue! I am sorry that I immediately regressed to my college psych. prof...but what a wonderful gift of awareness and knowledge she she bestowed upon me and all who she taught! She made me aware that we all have an onboard shrink! It is our subconscious mind...we are never alone as it is our mentor and friend if we take the time to pay attention. Thank you for sharing your dream experience! sailrmc |
