Religious nightmare

About a year ago, I had a dream that I am sitting in a chair and an acquaintaince approaches me. She is a very religious girl and decides to talk about... Jesus. For some reason, I'm very happy to hear her and listening to her gives me some kind of a satisfaction. Then she brings me into a round room with candles everywhere. All of a sudden I realize that I'm tied up and it scares me. There are people wearing black. They are all slender. They look like monks and their faces cannot be seen. These details are kind of blurry and destorted now, so I can't remember exactly how the room looked like. But anyway, the people begin humming and then bring in an icon with Jesus on it. They are tyring to make me kiss it and I resist with all my might. At one point, one of them says something very angrily and I glance at the icon, noticing that the person on the icon composed only of bones, but the bones seem to be of a monstrous or deformed being. Its large eyes are starring right at me. It was a shock and I woke up immediately in sweat and fear.

I actually have a guess as to this dream's meaning since I had it a while ago and things have happened in my life since then which have pointed to that dream, but i would just like to know the opinion of others as to what it means. If anyone has any suggestions about its meaning, let me know!

A couple of things come to mind... as Carl Jung would most likely find, the figure having transformed from a positive expectancy to something very negative relates to something from the past that one must eventually face and find resolution with. The dreamer is often led to believe that something is wonderful and so it is more easily explored in the dream, only to find out that the shadowy figures come out. The typically represent situations or actions or events within the dreamer's life that are haunting him, or drawing him in so as to be resolved once and for all.

If you had not described your dream just as you had I might have gone another direction...that being, a representation of the realization of you own mortality. All through our life cycle the dreaming mind intermittently reminds us (for different reasons) of the fact that we must someday face death. This goes hand in hand with the subconscious mind's over all purpose...as mentor and lifelong friend it is charged with finding a way to bring understanding, balance and peace into our life. By letting us know of our fear of death or (the fact that we are accumulating years) we face that which we fear or have left unresolved for such a long time. This is an ongoing process that is seen starting in adolescence.

If dreamt there were many lighted candles in the city means the governor there is just and fair, and there will be many weddings and people will be happy.
If there were light candles in the church , schools and mosques means people there will have a chance for praying.
Candle may also mean :1- a king 2- a judge 3- a child 4- a wedding 5- A governorship 5- a house 7- happiness 8- science 9- wealth 10 pleasure 11- a g/f 12- wife 13- as the same he dreamt .


Black dresses people are happy people around that will know later( at that time).

Bones means small pieces of money to kiss.

If a part of a prophets body was hurt or black means people's religion is weak.
If dreamt he gave you kind of fruit means you will learn kind of science.

If dreamt any kind of failure in the prophet means that failure is referring to you because Prophets ( peace be on them ) are dreamt by either believers or the criminals. Prophets are either fearers or have a good news .If dreamt a prophet was ill or angry means the people of that region are not believers and will have a God's wrath.

Thanks. I think your first explanation works very well. And to me that dream turned out more literal than it seemed at first - it actually was about being haunted by false religion and the people that have stepped into my life back then who hid behind a facade and made me feel tied up and helpless. And everything did get resolved within a year...
