unusual dreams

Hi Everyone, i am hoping someone could shed some for on this for me, i never have normal dreams and untillrecently i thought it was just me untill my son aged 17 told me he has the same issue.Basically, we both seem to be able to control the dream almst like we are watching it like a movie, if it turms off into something we dont like we change it, almost like reverse it and start over.We also both expierence what the experts call sleep paralyisis.on a very regular basis, i have my own theory on that.which i will post in the nightmare section, id love to hear peoples vies on my expierences.But the ability to control the events in a dream i find quite odd.also if im having a nightmare i know its a dream and i tell myself to wake up, and i do, if upon falling back asleep the nightmare starts again , i wake myself up again, untill it goes away.How is it possible to control this like that?
