Inexplicable move to new home

hi I'm new here.. this is such a great site. I should be in bed but I have an insomnia issue.. but that's another forum

I've had this dream a half a dozen occasions and I'm not sure what it means. We (husband and I .. kids 'exist' but are but not in the dream) are moving into a new house. First time I had the dream it was a little cape cod, dark rooms.. panelling & dark shag carpet and some ugly filthy outdoor type carpet, that had been added onto many times over. I could not understand why we'd moved there, like it was a mistake.. or we'd made a bad choice. Nothing really happens in the dream but me thinking we shouldn't be there, wondering if we could fix it, and me longing for our real house.

In another version, the new house was much larger than our current house. It was more current decor-wise, but not our style, so it needed a lot of work. THere were at least 15 really large rooms... In that one I wondered how i got there , but didn't hate it as much as the first house. Much of the dream was looking at the positive aspects of the house and wondering how I could feel comfortable there.

THere were a couple other similar versions. In all of them I think back to the house we do currently live in.. and have feelings of perfection (even though it is NOT perfect by any mean.. I have a lot of 'projects' to make it mine and we've lived here 9 years if that tells you anything.. like I'm a procrastinator . My point in all this is that its not a situation where have it fixed up exactly the way we want it ). So have these feelings that our last house was 'perfect' and that I want to try to get back there but it is impossible because someone else lives there now.

thanks for all your replies Varzandeh. Question - so I should look at the individual elements of the dream and not so much at the dream as a whole?

As I was typing the inexplicable new house dream I thought it might mean a subconscious fear of moving from a good situation to a bad one.. such as divorce or losing job or something along those lines. Like I had the good life but didn't appreciate it....
