Default now rats running around me!

i had a dream a few moments ago that i was in a grocery store shopping, i came across the cereal isle and i was picking up the usual cereals that my girls love to eat. suddenly i went from shopping to being in an office in a "secret area (sort of like those doors that loss prevention are located behind)" of the store, filling out some paperwork for some type of aid that i qualified for. we started a small talk up about how the government (or politicians) don't really care for those in need, and how much people in this country struggled, or something to that nature. i was dressed in business attire with a large pocketbook, and i remember thanking the person for helping me, who was a very nice lady. as i turned around, i looked and suddenly there was a bed in the office and about three or four HUGE rats (maybe the size of fat kittens) running around. there was a woman behind me waiting to get the same help i just recieved, and she was terrified. she screamed and closed her eyes because one of the rats jumped on the bed by her. i really wasn't scared, but because i saw the lady behaving that way, something in me conformed to that behavior and i also screamed and closed my eyes. i tried to get to the door, but now, as i was acting scared, i suddenly did become scared (sort of) of the rats, and i was afraid to leave my spot. i peeked around me, and saw the rats everywhere except in the area where the lady was working. i was calling to her (she was at her desk writing and talking to someone else--a coworker i guess) and she was ignoring me, but she clearly saw that the rats were around me and the other woman. i called to her again, and she told me something like, "ah don't worry about them!" and continued to ignore me. i looked down and there was a huge rat in front of me and one next to me on my side. only they didn't look like nasty rats, but instead very fat and large young mice. they had almost pleasant faces, but they were running wild and took pleasure in making people scared, almost as if it was a mean game they were playing. i closed my eyes tight and one of them (the one in front of me) jumped on my leg (i could feel it's little legs grabbing my clothing as it ran even though i didn't see it), scurried up my pants to my arm and shoulder, and as soon as it reached my hair/head area, i woke up!

first maggots, now rats in my dreams?! i would be alarmed but i'm not really afraid of these creatures *unless they get too close haha!*, and the dreams don't have me feeling particulary "freaked out" when i wake up other than they are usually considered nasty creatures.

one other thing that really stands out to me is that the maggots from my other dream were very thin and a bit shorter compared to how maggots usually are sized, and the rats were VERY large but did not give off the appearance of being sinister or dirty...they actually looked like huge furry gray young mice, but i knew they were rats, not mice...like something someone would keep as a pet.

"ah don't worry about them!"

Well quite often quotes can be filled with meanings. Try to think about a quote like this. Think laterally about what happened the day before. What comes into your mind when you think about this quote.

------------------------
Dreams appear very real. We see, we think and we feel. Why is this? Well one idea is that this links to the mind and the way we use neural networks within it. We build up connections within a brain. Let’s take a practical example - learning to paint. Art is a difficult subject to learn well. We may pick up different techniques and each time something works well we store that in our brains. We may say to ourselves "the way that I used my brush really worked that time". So we reinforce certain ways of thinking. So the neural networks associated with those ways of thinking are reinforced too.

Dreams maybe appear real because we are trying to reinforce certain neural firings within the brain. So that when we are trying to motivate ourselves then we maybe visualize success because that reinforces the areas of our brain that deal with motivation. We detect a need to be more motivated and so we actually live out those motivations. In the same way sometimes we need to draw back. We maybe are acting in a risky way. Therefore our dreams may emphasize some negative ways of thinking. They maybe play out some worst possible scenario as a way of reinforcing the need for caution. So dreams can be described a consciousness of sorts. We need to actually experience things as real in order to reorder the brain. If we are too positive then we are perhaps deflated in our thinking. If we are too negative then maybe our dreams give us a push. They help us experience happiness as a way of reshaping our feelings.

Also think of all of the rat puns there are: we might think of someone as a rat fink; someone who is doing things behind our back. Or, you smell a rat or rat race. I think this dream is much like the maggot dream you had! You felt that dream had to do with your impending layoff. You might still be working through feelings of being betrayed by your employer. Best of luck and hopefully you will find where you are meant to be and the yukky bug and animal dreams will stop!

Default Rats and maggots

Dreams like yours don't just come without a reason and no matter what gloss you put on them they signify something amiss.
I guess you know what it is but dont want to admit it. However for the sake of your daughter you should. In another dream you admitted having headache. Perhaps it is a minor matter like migrain.
Cheers Wolfjk

Hi,
rats are girls ,Perhaps a women party or a gathering of 6.
Screaming means something bad on the way because of the girls.

i don't think it's my daughter. it's my job. i have concern for my children because of my job.

the hardest part is over now...maybe the dreams will subside. i left my job today, onto the rest of my life.

verazandah really caught my heart when she said the tub in my last dream represents a job...and the maggots people. once she said that, it was all clear. the maggots were on my baby girl...i want to protect her and my other children from the fact that i lost my job...i know that much. and i feel like my losing my job will (naturally) affect my children. that's why she had maggots on her too perhaps.

i'm feeling better, i think the hardest part is over. maybe tonights sleep will be better!

wow. spooky. i left my job today--all women, 6 employees that worked specifically with me, discounting myself!

i don't think i was afraid of losing my job initially, but seeing how others react to losing their jobs, i will admit that i sort of got freaked out by the notion of perhaps not being able to find a job in this economy (which explains the lady and i talking about the government and the economy).

maybe that's why in the dream i didn't scream or become afraid until i saw the other lady. shopping in the grocery store probably represented me before having lost my job--i'm shopping, so i have money. afterwards i was in a dress suit--like for a job interview, getting some aid i qualified for.

the rats weren't ugly or nasty...much like my ex coworkers/bosses. they aren't nasty people, it's just that lay offs happen. too funny about the meaning of 6...like i said, there are 6 female employees there, and i guess that yes, the females did sort of cause me something bad on the way...by laying me off!

wow, i am feeling better. i knew i was having job problems, but i never would have related maggots and rats to my job.

I think it is interesting that there are three different reactions to the rats:
1. a scared coworker
2. you, who conformed to the scared coworker's behavior
3. a third coworker who told you not to worry about the situation.

well dreams use symbols. Try to think about that phrase "people in need". Think about how you felt yesterday. many dreams just regurgitate thought processes from yesterday in rather abstract and symbolic ways. Just think about that phrase.

------------------------
Dreams use symbols. In real life you will say something like "I need to be recognised and accepted. I just seem to constantly fighting against peopel who do not respect me in the way that they should". yet a dream will also express such a concept but in symbolic form. You maybe fighting in the dream. That symbolises the struggle in your life.

Also remember that the day before the dream is especially important in the dream. Many dreams link top specific feelings that we felt yesterday as we reform our emotions.

thanks everyone...i am taking into account everything that's being said. i wonder who the scared coworker could have been...probably my boss, because i could sense her unease? with laying me off...and yeah, i did react to her emotions.

hmm. people in need. i have been also thinking about that. there are so many situations in my life that the phrase can fit right now...something to think about.

on a side note, no dreams last night that i really remember at all!
