Default Recently deceased client/friend in dream - need help w/symbols?

I lost a client/friend in January unexpectedly. He and I have been aware of each other for awhile but in the past year have become much closer because he hired me to do interior design work for him since his divorce. When I first met him about 5 years ago, I can't say I really was all that impressed. Wasn't the type of person I would worry myself with associating with.

Since he asked me to do work for him I have grown to really like the guy. I was honored that he asked me to do design work in his personal home as he owns a high end construction company and with dozens of contacts, could really have any designer he wanted.

His death hit me hard. We had planned to do lunch the next week. We had talked on the phone and I just was getting comfortable, less intimidated by him. I really barely know the guy, but I really cared for him as a friend.

Last night I had a dream about Jerry. My husband and I were at what appeared to be a landing of some sort, near a town by us, alongside the river. I am not sure what we were there for, if we had a boat?, I don't know, but I do know we were busy with whatever we were doing and when I looked up Jerry was walking down the landing incline towards us. He looked so soft - so glowing - but real. Just happy and spirited looking. As he approached I kept looking at him and then to Mike (hubby) in disbelief of what I was seeing. As he got within a few feet I said, "no, it can't be" and Mike said, "yes, honey, it's Jerry, I don't know how, but it's Jerry". I looked at Jerry once we were face to face and I expressed my disbelief. He assured me that it was him and he said everything was o.k.

I felt for him, and even though he appeared in full being, when I felt for him he was only about 2 feet tall. I think I pulled back quickly startled by what I had "felt", the shortness of his presence even though he was in full height in front of me.

I said something to the effect that was questioning if he was o.k. and telling him that I missed him. And he replied that he was o.k. That he was happy and that he was home. He reiterated again, and said he was at home with Jesus and that he was happy. We hugged, and when we hugged there was not much I remembered other than our right cheeks touched and his skin was so incredibly soft. I just remember that detail very clearly. And after the hug, I was scared to feel for him with my hand because I didn't want to feel the 2-foot being again. I don't know why.

I think I woke myself up in all of this, disbelieving it. I am a good sleeper, so I know I fell back in and out of sleep reliving parts of all of this. More might have added on, but the key points to me are:

the landing & the river
the 2-foot tall presence
the softness of his face next to mine
and of course - the reassurance he was home with Jesus.

Why me - why this dream? I have never had a dream about any other deceased people. One thing I can think of that is different is that most people that have died that I have been close to were suffering. He died in a snowmobile accident. It was unjustified in my mind - even though I knew he wouldn't live his life any other way - and lived it to the fullest every day.

I need help understanding. If anyone can sort it out I would so much appreciate it. I need to settle my heart today. I can't stop thinking about this.

Hi,
Maybe, somehow, Jerry was letting you know that he was ok. And maybe he thought of you as a friend, and thought highly of you and your work.
Dreams like this happen to people when they are receptive to it.
Good luck

REM...

Like Bright Dreamer said....he could just be letting you know that he is okay and not to worry. Water always represents spiritual matters to me...so the river may be trying to point out that this is a spiritual dream. I believe his skin was soft because you miss him being around....and was comforted by him when he was alive. I believe he was 2 feet tall because it indicates his death...shrinking away. I am very sorry for your loss....but I believe he is home now...as he said. Be well and comforted by this dream.

In sleep as in waking life we need diversion and entertainment. You were obviously very shocked at the sudden death of a friend and his memory impacts on your sleep. When the sad memories keep flooding back while you're asleep you need a dream to divert you from it. Your subconscious designs the dream to fit the occasion. While your friends presence looks real your subconscious keeps telling you it is not. He is only two foot tall!. The soft feel of his face could have been your pillow or your husbands face.
The dream could have been triggered by something physical, However the way youdescribe it it, the cause probably was the psychological upset. The transience of life!
Cheers Wolfjk
