All I remember is walking with two friends, one of them possibly being a love interest (I just thought I'd throw that in there in case it was relevant), towards the exit of an unfamiliar hospital. Though I was initially there to visit someone, I didn't feel at all melancholy. My two friends exited and I was following them until I stepped into the empty main lobby. There was a small dog in a blue hospital vest lying on the ground several feet away from me, and this startled me so I jolted a little. The dog was also startled and perceived me as a threat, and jumped on me to attack. I didn't feel pain, and I didn't see teeth... the dog was just inching its mouth closer to bite me and I was resisting. I tried to scream but no sound came out of my mouth, and I was frustrated. The last thing I remember seeing in my dream is the dog's mouth inching toward me, and I felt very distant fear in my heart. I never actually saw what ended up happening.

I will give your dream a shot. I believe the hospital represents rest and recooperation. It makes me wonder if you are just getting off of a break from work or other obligations. Unfortunately, you are exiting the hospital...which may indicate that you need to either go back to work or take on more responsibility. Although you are not sad about this, you definately have some fear about being loaded down (again). You know you can do it...but you expect it to bite you sooner or later. Am I way off? I hope not. It was a "gut" feeling interpretation. Best wishes to you.

A dog is interpreted as someone who doesn't act on his knowledge or a kind enemy in hospital uniform.
He will have a fight to you, if barked means he/she will say rude words to you.
If it had bitten would means he./she would cause a money loss.

Thank you for your responses. I apparently overlooked many things when thinking about this dream - I'm not quite good at this sort of thing yet - but the symbol interpretation you all gave me did help me piece together my dream.

My work ethic over the past week has been atrocious and I decided to let myself go for a while. I indulged in food, way too much music, parties, and just procrastinated in general to take a break amidst the wonderful progress I've made during the past few months. The cheery hospital is a symbol for this period of rest, and the fight with the dog was symbolic of my struggle against my slothful vice - it didn't bite me because I didn't allow my laziness to overcome me. This particular friend, who I gave up on, symbolized my somewhat aimless whims (indulgences), as opposed to stable goals.

I'm not quite sure about the lack of voice when I yelled. I felt helpless in my dream but I'm not sure what exactly that means.
