Had a weird dream last night. I should first point out that my grandfather passed away on Friday 2/22.
Last night I a had this dream. I was in a huge school bathroom with about 20 stalls. I went into one of the stalls and sat down to urinate. A black Labrador walked into the stall. He was completely black and shiny. I start wondering why the dog is in there but I'm not afraid. I little girl walks into the stall and starts instigating me to argue with her. I start sensing that the little girl is trying to get the dog to attack me. The dog is staring at me but does not attack. I get out of the stall and my best friend and her aunt are standing in front of the mirror. My best friend has the dog in her arms and is petting him. I walk out of the bathroom and go stand by the window. Across the street is an apartment building. I look into the apartment straight across from where I'm standing and there is a Chines family looking at this huge White rat thats caught on a glue trap. They start pushing the rat and the rat break free. The right runs really fast jumps out of the window and unto my shoulder. I start screaming and wake up really startled. The dream ends. A few seconds after I wake up my two and a half year old daughter who is sleeping in her crib by me lets out a loud scream. I should also point out that I usually dream of rats attacking me but they are always black not white. And my daughter always screams in her sleep when I have a startling dream. I go back to sleep a few hours later and dream that my grandmother is standing beside me and is wearing a red shirt. I feel this is weird since her husband just passed away. In the dream I'm on the phone with my mother and they are all at my grandfather's funeral. My grandmother should be there because they live in the Dominican Republic and not here in the US. What can this all mean? |

Hi,
Quote:
The meaning of the dreams is simple; you are apprehensive about dogs and rats and dreaming about them wakes you up. Cheers Wolfjk

Hi,
Bathroom is a symbol for earnings , urinating means spending money.A dog means someone who doesn't act on his knowledge, or a kind enemy, or a boss if bit means he won't pay your right, but a little girl is symbol that means some blessing is on the way. The people who were in front of mirror if they are pregnant means she will have a baby girl just like her, if not means they may seperate their b/f. A rat means a girl or a person , but you screamed is not a good symbol it means an accident. Good luck.

I am sorry for your loss... Grandparents are significant in many different ways. and loosing one stirs up much in the way of emotions and feelings. Your dream is associated with emotions relating to the loss of your grandfather. There is much symbolism in your dream but it all boils down to the fact that someone has been ridiculing or chastising you for some reason. The exact reason that you get blame is not clearly pointed out in your dream. The dream shows that you are in the process of trying to rid yourself of the feelings associated to the reason that you have been ridiculed. Your subconscious mind shows that there is no need be angry with you. It is forgiving, and it finds no need to "bite". Someone in your waking life has not let up.
Now, this person may be you! In your waking life you may take blame for something that you have or have not done (as the case may be), but the indication is that someone else is transferring blame on you as well. The bottom line is that you should not be so hard on yourself. Your grandmother is full of emotion at this time but still, the indication is, that you should be easier on yourself. Perhaps there is some feeling of guilt that you carry for not being totally accessible to those who you feel need your solace, during this tragically sad time. Again, your subconscious mind is saying don't be too hard on yourself...and it gives you an outlet to rid yourself of these anxieties and emotions. Your thoughts? sailrmc |

I am sorry for your sad loss. When someone dies we may expect dreams to be more significant... somehow tapping into something deeper and more meaningful. Often this is not the case. Many dreams link simply to the inner workings of the mind. My interpretation therefor perhaps is perhaps rather boring.
But what stands out to me is that this dream features your daughter and grandfather. Maybe it therefor links to something that connects them. Maybe you are wondering how to broach this subject with your daughter. That your grandfather has died and that this figure is very important to you. Your grandfather is probably utterly insignificant to your daughter. she is only after all 2 years old. Maybe its about you sensing that she is sensing pain inside you. After all it features a strong symbol for this.. you feel that your daughter crys out when you have bad dreams ------------------------ People expect too much from dream dictionaries. Can you really expect a dream dictionary to provide an explanation of what your dream means simply because it included a particular symbol? It’s an absurd suggestion. The best comparison is to expect someone what a sentence means by just giving them one word within it. For instance to ask someone what a sentence means that includes the word "soldier". In reality the process in almost impossible. There are so many different ways that the word can be used that interpreting the dream just by spotting one word within it is simply ridiculous. The word soldier can be used in many different ways such as "I need to soldier on", "we have not got enough soldiers in Iraq", and "I want to be a soldier when I grow up". So why do people expect a dream interpreter to be able to simply understand a dream by the inclusion of one symbol. In practice dream symbolism work in much the same way as ordinary dictionaries. A soldier can represent themselves but they can also be used in a wider context to show the types of qualities that a soldier exhibits (toughness and the ability to endure hardship and follow rules). So think how anyone of those symbolic meanings relates to recent events. It’s really important to use a process of association. Associate the dream symbol with real life thoughts. First ask yourself if the symbol could represent itself. Did you think of any real life soldiers the day before? But also consider the qualities that soldier’s exhibit. Did those same qualities have any relevance the day before? Did you need to follow rules and be disciplined? Did the same seem like a constant struggle? Also consider the day to come and see how that relates to possible symbolic meanings. Did you resolve to soldier on in some difficult situation? Work though all the symbols in the same way and see what real life issues can best fit the real situation in your life. But also consider telepathy and premonitions as they too are part of the many aspects of dreaming.
