Hi, I need help interpreting this disturbing dream.

I was in the jungle and I witnessed a black shaggy domestic dog start chasing after two tigers. Then the tigers turned on the dog and started chasing it. They ended up following the dog into a river until they all swam to the other side, then the tigers bit the dog's neck until it was almost mortally injured. This is when I started to take a stance in the dream and I swam out to the dog on the other shore and brought the dog into the water because I knew I had to kill it to put it out of its misery. I swam with the dog and held him underwater. I was watching his face and had to hold him until he stopped moving. Afterwards, I stayed in the water and watched the dog for what seemed like hours.

I woke up and explained the dream and couldn't help but cry because I had killed the dog. What does it all mean?

Black may mean danger, the unknown, betrayal. A dog may mean a friend, or it may mean some charater traits that you may have that others may not see.
A dog usually means loyalty, and protection. Maybe a black dog may mean the opposite.

Tigers are frightening. Maybe the dog represents you, who has a fear that you want to confront (dog chasing the tigers), only for the fear to come back and overwhelm you (Tigers chasing the dog.)
It becomes so overwhelming, that a part of you is hurt (injured dog.) YOu feel helpless, and allow the fear to finish you off (killing the dog).
You look at the dog for a long time. YOu may be contemplating your actions, and feel it's ultimately the way it has to be.
