DREAMED FEB 19TH 2008
I dreamed I was in a canoe floating down a clean, quiet river. The sun was out shining down on the gleaming river and no cloud was in the sky. It was a warm, peaceful summer day. I didn't need a paddle, the river would take me. I was not alone on the river. There was an old man in a little dingy also floating down the river. He had a big white beard, wore no shirt, and had a cheerful personality. I thought he was a little crazy, a little eccentric, but a neat old man who was kind and a brother in Christ. He told me I was better than most. Most people are so afraid of canoes they won't even get into one, afraid that it will tip over. I wasn't afraid, and I had skill with the canoe. I checked ahead, there were no rapids. I could lay back and relax. I looked around at the surrounding hills, they had been stripped bare of all their trees. Usually there would be towering pine trees on both sides of the river, trees that shelter againist wind and hot sun. Even the grass was stripped from the earth. Why? The dream 'spoke' to me and said, "Don't worry. The trees would not be able to shelter you anyway so it doesn't matter if they are there or not. The sun will not burn you." I already knew for a fact no storm was comming ( I checked ) and there were no rapids ahead (I checked that, too) now I also knew I would not get sunburned, trees or no trees. My thoughts / impressions of the dream: I got the impression the other people afraid to even get into the canoe were Christians too afraid of even the smallest thing going wrong to take the journey. The river, I think, represents the journey GOD put me on. I remember that the 'cedars of Lebannon' were pine trees which brings me to Psalm 29 Psalm 29:5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. Psalm 29:9 The voice of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry, "Glory!" The old man with his white hair and beard reminds me a little bit of the description of Moses (meaning drawn from the water) and in Revelation, GOD has a white beard and hair. Also, being told the sun will not scorch me reminds me of Revelation 7:16, where the angel comments on the 144,000 that have come out of the tribulation: 16 Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. Psalm 29 is referring to the "seven thunders" of GOD. They announce pending judgment. The trees are probably wealth of this world which is useless. Since the Christians who were too afraid to take the journey were not with me, were they subject to the wrath of the GOD that stripped the forests bare?

Just an observation...This is a good example showing that meanings of dreams vary somewhat, depending on the culture and religious beliefs of the dreamer. Something that is also interesting is, when this particular dream is translated without the specific religious scripture taken into account, the meaning remains the same.
