Exclamation Anyone experienced Sleep Paralysis? (REM paralysis)

I had moments of my life where I had a cluster of sleep paralysis. It is frightening to find your mind is awake (you are fully conscious and aware of your surrounding) but your body still remains asleep - so your body is paralysed. And there is this fear that maybe you will remain like that, unable to communicate to the outside world that you are awake.

I wonder if sleep paralysis and its frequency is connected in some ways with poor sleep quality, or sleep deprivation, and perhaps mood as well? and maybe linked with physical illnesses?

Anyone know? Or experienced sleep paralysis?

Hi,
There are many threads on sleep paralysis on this forum. It is more likely to happen if you are stressed however it can happen at any other time. It is just like any other dream. The idea that you can't move is the waking element of the dream. Your subconscious uses your fear to wake you from a bad sleeping position. An experienced dreamer can readily bring on a sleep paralysis type dream by going to sleep in a position that interfers with breathing.
Cheers Wolfjk
