Over the past three years I have had a reoccuring dream with a few occasional variations:
The first was about 3 years ago: It began on a mountain where I was interviewing a gypsy family about their lifestyle as I was writing a story centralising around gypsys. However before I could speak to them the said i had to preform a ritual. I was hung by my left foot from a tree and was told "It is time for you to remember" Te scen shifted anding in what could only be a desert near a couple of egyptian temples. Directly in front of me was what could only be desicrbed as a swimmingpool/large bath although it was in the same sort of style as the ancient buildings. By the edge of the bath is who i guess is a pharoh although I ca not see his face. He holds a new born baby in his arms, who I insinctively know as being called Alexander. The man promlty takes his arms away in a passive gesture so that the baby falls into the water. Hysterical I run into the water to get the baby, how i would expect a mother would act. However by the time i get to the the side of the bath with the baby. The baby is dead. I am subsequently pulled away from the baby by another man. I awoke from this dream increadbly upset. the common reoccuring variation of this is that There is a man with the baby again although the setting is unclear, this time i am directly in front of the man so when he takes his arms away i can catch the baby just as the baby touches the water. again i do not see the mans face as I ask "why" These dreams were increadibly vivid and disturbing- te reason why i have posted this as I havenever held any fasciation with egypt and i am very confused about the whole thing. |

The ceremony where you are hanging down and the gypsy people represent a reference to the Tarot cards, specifically, the card known as The Hanged Man
Tarot Card - The Hanged Man - picture and interpretation ![]() The Hanged Man is a message that you must make a personal sacrifice in order to get peace. The gypsy tells you, its time to remember...this means what troubles you is buried in your memories. The story of your 2nd dream (or 2nd part of the same dream) bears striking similarity to the story of Moses. Pharoah declared all Hebrew boys be thrown into the river and drowned but girls were allowed to live. Moses was thrown into the Nile river due to this decree, but a daughter of pharoah found him and took him for herself. Moses was the savior of the Jews, leading them out of slavery, just like the name Alexander which literally means 'defender of mankind'. In the dream, you try to save the savior of mankind, someone destined for greatness, but it was too late. Since people think of their children in such a way when they are young, and adults think they could've been such a savior of mankind if their childhood could be different, I believe the dream is saying a man somehow sacrificed or took away your childhood by hurting you, and you believe that you could've be great if he didn't harm you, but you had no power to save yourself from him. The personal sacrifice to make here is to let go of this...let it go... This is just some ideas of what this could mean. For certain, you have a memory that created some difficult emotions you have to face.

You may not be interested in Egypt but I think you are interested in in history as the na"Alexander' suggests. Quote:
My guess is that your arms often get pins and needles or some pain in them while you sleep and the dream moves you or wakes you from it. Perhaps you lie on your arms too long or sleep in an awkward sleeping position? Cheers Wolfjk

I find your dream quite interesting. While you may get suggestions that represent a huge range of meaning, one will hopefully strike a chord. If and when this happens consider that which seems to ring true but from a broad perspective. In this way you can zero in on what your mind's message is saying.
As you are probably well aware dreams recur for a reason and yours I am sure is no exception. Whatever the message it is an important one or the subconscious mind simply would not waste it's time. I find the architecture of this dream quite telling. Architecture is the brick and mortar of the dream that explains the purpose of the dream OR it eases the dreamer into a state of thought that allows him to pursue the true meaning or intent. In your case it is the latter of the two. In the opening you are made to participate in a ritual. The ritual portrays the process of the mind that puts you in a state of mental preparedness so that you may properly address the upcoming meaning (to be portrayed). Your subconscious mind has you hanging from a tree by your left foot. To this point the subconscious is symbolically telling you that you are not in control here. It has it's own agenda and you will follow it starting with preparing yourself to think about your ancestral base (the tree). You are likely right handed because you hang from your left foot (indicating that you are tapping into the subconscious mind for information that has to do with family or ancestral heritage). If you happen to be right handed, hanging from your left would have to do with something from your waking life but the symbolism and context indicate that you are right handed. Upside down happens to allow the blood to flow to the brain...symbolic for deep thought is the order of what is to come in the dream. It is implied, that at the time of this dream and each reoccurance thereof, you are being shown that you are on a spiritual quest of sort? Before you can be allowed to identify with that spiritual harmony or happiness (or what ever you seek) there is some preparation that must be done. A cleansing must happen (typically this has to do with clearing of emotional baggage, anxiety or trauma that blocks your ability to focus on that which you need to accomplish in your life). This is a general way that the mind says in order to proceed in a positive manner something needs to be resolved. I know that this sounds like a catch all phrase but your mind has not given any indication as to what needs to happen or why (at least to this point in your dream). There is symbolism now having to do with the pharoh, but with out knowing more detail or background it is impossible to be certain as to specific meaning. It is highly possible by the context of the dream and the symbolism shown that this dreams purpose is to bring to consciousness, something from your past that you may not fully be aware of. It likely has to do with an incident in your life that you are highly protective of (something that you have blocked from your memory for the fear of having to deal with it). You fear that you will not be able to handle the thought (some aspect of you would die...so to speak...if you were to be allowed to think about it). The pharoh symbolizes the part of your mind that decides what is good for you or not (the subconscious mind, that knows every aspect about every moment of your life...weather your conscious mind remembers or not). In reality, it has no power to command your waking life actions but it is very powerful in it's suggestions as you sleep. It is your mentor and friend and very likely it is suggesting that it is time to stop being protective and come to some realization from your past. Now if this is completely off there is a plan "B", showing that perhaps you are involved with a "pet" project that you should give up on. It's time had run it's course and it needs to get out of your life, in a manner of speaking. It might be a business venture. It could be a friendship (relatively new one)...but in this case the indication is that you need to stop making excuses, you need to stop protecting it. You come to it's rescue quite often but in reality your mind is telling you to let it go. Because this recurs, your dreaming mind may use this format each time you tend to fall into a pattern of hanging on to someone or something too long. By the way, If you were not already confused, both analysis may simultaneously apply (this is known as a multi plane dream if that is the case). I am interested to hear your thoughts...good or bad.. Thank you, Sailrmc |
