Wow, Sailrmc -- thanks for the detailed response. Yes, it did make perfect sense to me. Your comment about "getting back into the game of life" is, I think, right on the money. Yes, I have started a business and kept it very profitable for 11 years, but, the point is, I feel as if I am just "going with the flow" of the business. Even though I have made one minor change in the past year to try to get into a new career direction (landed a publishing deal to write a book with a NYC publishing house) I have been frustrated with the slow pace of progress. (The good news is that the final manuscript will be finished next week...and the publisher has already said they want to sign me for a second book. So, progress is being made toward a more creative career; it's just that the progress is very slow -- at least by my standards! LOL!)

You were also right that there was a bad relationship breakup, but it don't secretly hope he still cares about me. Thankfully, I put that issue to bed several years ago when I finally woke up and realized that we really were completely incompatible; I just didn't want to see it at the time.

Your overall advice that the dreams are not about some past issue but are a familiar setting to bring to light current events in my life is very helpful.

Thanks, also, for the resource information; I will follow up this weekend when I have more time to properly digest the info. Again, I really appreciate the time investment you made to provide such a detailed and valuable response!

Cheers...

Unclesirbobbyrobin:

Good advice about looking to the events that happened the day before. A few years ago I used to do a dream incubation exercise (based on Laura Days' book, "Living Your Dreams") and part of that exercise involved clearing your mind of everything that happened that day so your could "incubate" a dream related to a specific problem you had, or issue you were facing. I found her process to be quite powerful for solving problems, but when I tried to use it to help me determine what my TV dreams meant, I thought it didn't work because I got another TV dream! However, after reading Sailrmc's response, perhaps the answer was in that dream! LOL!

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my dream confusion. I very much appreciate it.

I will take a stab at interpreting your dream(s). I only hope that it will help. I find it interesting that your last dream had a lot of undertones regarding superficiality and deception. The reporter lost a loved one yet she was reporting the story and even put on lipstick rather then grieve appropriately. The latter half of your dream depicted you trying to hide your emotions so that you would not offend anyone. I don't believe the dreams have anything to do with getting back into the news, but rather embracing your true self. You said in your initial post that often there are two of you in your dream. I believe one represents the image you present to others and the other one is the true self. You continue to have these dreams because "getting back into news" is metaphoric for getting back to your true self "new" not news. The dreams are telling you to be emotional, feel what you want to feel, do what makes you happy and not care about what others think of you. This is a conflict about who you think you are (not what you should be doing as a profession). If you can train yourself to know when you are dreaming (lucid dreaming), I suggest that you ask people in your dream what the dream is about. They will let you know. Best wishes to you.

Hey, Shirah...I never thought about asking the people in my dream what the dream is about. GREAT IDEA!! Thanks...and I'll try to implement it when I am lucid dreaming.
