Hi,
I've been having dreams about the house I lived in from the time I was 3 years old to almost 11 years old. Some background: In real life, the house has changed owners a couple of times since I lived there. It is not well maintained, and looks awful. My beloved step-father is buried in the cemetery directly across the road from the house. Last night, I dreamed that I HAD to see the inside of my house again. I was outside with my best friend (whom I've been friends with, and still am, since we were 8 years old. We are now 34.) The yard looked nice, and the driftwood fence that my step-dad built was still there. I was so happy it was still there (in real life, it's gone). I wanted to go in SOOOO badly, but I was afraid of intruding on the owners. Outside, my friend and I find a menu near the lilac bush my mom loved. It showed that the house was open for tourists for a price. A woman about my age came out, and said we can go in. Her husband seemed annoyed, like he didn't want us there. I know that the couple had children, at least one boy and one girl. We go in through the side door....the back porch was missing. We enter the threshold to the kitchen. That was as far as we were allowed in by the husband. It was beautifully remodelled, and the layout was the same as it was when I was there. Across the kitchen is the table, and the door that leads out to the front yard. I wanted to see more, but for some reason, the husband said something and we had to leave. My friend and I leave the house through the side door. I then remember a car and a trailer, and gray skies.....but I don't know if it was part of the same dream. I just remember feeling SO strongly that I just HAD to see the rest of the house. As keep having different dreams about my old house, and wanting to see the inside. The feelings are very real. THis dream was the 1st time my best friend was there. We have a close bond, even though we live several states apart. I appreciate your insight! Thanks for your help!

Hi,
A house may mean a man ,related to the past and lilac means a child. If one dreamt had a jasmine in its season means he will have a lucky fortunate child. But detaching jasmine means a sorrow. If dreamt someone gave him a jasmine means they will separate. Jasmine bush means a bad moral, rich woman. White Jasmine means a good moral good ending woman.

well often badly maintained houses link to unhappy, badly maintained people. Is there someone that you wish to help but caqnnot... because they are far too independant minded .
------------------------ It is true that many dream symbols can have very personal meanings that only the dreamer could possibly connect to. For instance your sister may appear in a dream as an example of someone who interferes constantly in everything that you do. Yet a symbol may easily appear in a very standard sense. In a general and standard sense sisters link to a willingness to share opinions and to talk openly. Your dream may use a sister in that sense. It is equally true that a sister may appear just as themselves. The dream may then connect with some issue that involves them either directly or indirectly. The trick is then to keep an open mind and explore every possibility. I do not think of anyone at the moment.
I should clarify.....in REAL life, the house is badly maintained. In the DREAM, the house was nice, even better that it was when I was a child. In the dream, the kitchen was updated from the 70's to now. Does that help? THanks!!!

Houses or buildings are representative of ourselves. For example a house is you and the rooms are different aspects of your personality; the attic represents the mind, the basement what is hidden. You mentioned getting as far as the kitchen and kitchens represent nourishment or food for thought.
Being that this was your childhood home it was representing the basics of your definition of family. You grew and developed into who you are now in that house and it became very much a part of you. Your subconscious is having you revisit this base to help you deal with possible changes and decisions in your waking life. Your values and standards are connected with this house. Your subconcious used this as the tool since it had the current real life condition of the house on file too. Another source says that dreaming of a home you used to live in could refer to unfinished business or issues that need attention. Hope this helped! |

Thanks, katydid,
I'll think about those ideas. The people in the dream have me stumped, especially how the woman let me in, but her husband didn't want me there. I think my friend was in the dream, because she wants to be there for me. She is more like a sister than a friend. Thanks

I did a little more research and thinking on the man and woman characters in dreams. And, like houses, they also represent aspects of ourselves. And what I see in the two you dreamed about are two things.
One is for you to picture yourself holding up your hand, palm facing out and the then take the other hand and palm facing you motioning for someone to come forward. It was like "come on in" and "no, don't get too close" all at the same time. Not sure if this fits but it is the picture that came to mind. The second thing I would mention is that having the man and woman there together is also representative of parental behavior patterns. Maybe something had recently triggered how you or your parents have/had handled a parenting issue. Just some more food for thought. Hope it helps flesh the dream out a little more for you. |

Oh yeah, I was also going to add that I too have dreamed about my childhood home and going into the house when other people live there and checking it out. Sometimes it is when they are not home or I manage to hide from them. Weird. I will have to pay better attention to that dream symbol and what is actually happening in real life. Sometimes it is easier to see other's dreams and stumble on your own!
