Dreamed of 2 horses

Ok, this is the first time this has happened to me... My dream started with my mom and I in the livingroom sitting on the couch. In front of us were two brown horses, but they were my future uncle in-law (is there such thing as an uncle in-law?). I got up from the couch and went to the horse on my left and started caring for it... brushing its mane and putting the sattle on it. Then out of nowhere it started talking to me. I dont remember what it said, but I wasnt scared, I just started talking back, just a normal conversation. I didn't get on it or ride it or anything, I was just there caring for it and talking to it... What does this mean?
Out of the blue today, my humanities teacher said that a horse is a symbol of gaining control, like grabbing it by reigns and stearing your own path. This does sound like a good explaination at this point of my life. But is there anyone else out there that thinks different?
