Pretty Fishy dream ...

I've had three dreams in the last weak about my beta fish. Even though this sounds a silly dream - I wake feeling very troubled and filled with anxiety.

In the first dream, I discovered that he was not in his little tank. My daughter informed me that she had found him on the floor in another room coughing up "green stuff" - when I went into the room, I discovered that she had not tried to save him and put him back in his tank. I raced to grab him without hesitation (I don't touch things that wiggle without getting the creeps normaly) and he was the size of a chinese fighting fish. I threw him in the nearest tank that I could see, one filled with dirty water and a shallow and deep end. He hovered in the shallow end and I feared he would project himself out. I became concerned with the other fish in the tank possibly killing him and crouched down to view what sort were inside on the dep end. I could see a school of little black fish in the muddy water but two other fish that were larger that I could not identify. My concern was that they were little sharks. As I could see one more clearly - it was swimming verticaly and had fins that moved towards a "prayer" movement and I thought - they look like praying manthis fish. Unable to determin if he was safe, I was frantic to find a clear water bowl at room temperature. I did and removed him quickly.

Two days later, I dreamed that I again tried to intergrate my beta into a tank with other fish. I found a large clear tank and plopped him in - again by hand. As he swam around, I felt anxiety for the other fish attacking him and as I watched their movement, they all began to rip at him agressivly until he was colorless, appearing dead and attempting to bury himself in the sand. I thought he was dead for sure and felt tremendous greif. I took him out anyway and once again put him alone in his tank - filling it full of amethyst rocks. He survived and became full of color again.

Again I dreamed of trying to intergrate him into another tank. I placed him into the tank filled with other fish - in clear water - by hand. This time, he was ok and seemed to be at peace. I still worried and watched obsessivley but began to feel a bit relaxed as I saw he appeared to be safe. I saw a large neon floating in the air, like the spirit of a fish, and went to reach for him too - to also add him into the tank. I was this time in search of other "strays" to place in the tank as well.

In each dream I was conciously aware of the fact that I had to add the fish to a tank where other fish had been "home" there first in order that mine not kill them - but in all but the last dream, this was not successful and my fish was the one that was vulnerable. I wake each time with "icky" feelings. I watch my little "bubbles" each morning and now check on if he is ok and worry about him dieing a lot. My daughter gave him to me years ago ..... hu, it just occured to me that she used to have fish dreams alot. I told her it was because she is a picese - it's just a fish - that I now feel strongly attached to .... what's up with that?

I think Verzandeh said the other day a healthy fish means money or something, what was it?


I had a beta last year and it lasted 6 months :/ I loved him so much! It's totally normal to be attached to them. I think I kind of predicted his death too but I won't go scaring you


It's odd though I havent had him in a long time but I have been dreaming of beta's alot...floating around in tanks, which I keep trying to remember to clean. Kind of like your dream actually.
