Default Puppies & tigers?

I just noticed my last post was about puppies, too. This one has me curious.

I was, I think, either having my first day of work, or trying to get a job with a small pet store or something. After I'd showed up, lots of people and their puppies/dogs started coming. I was being very friendly with the dogs (all of them were very different in temperament, which I found interesting, in spite of the fact that one of them bit me). The friendlier I was, the more people came.

Soon I looked up from the animals and noticed most of the people were gone and we were dog-sitting for them. I knew I'd attracted all these pups and felt very responsible for them. The owner of the shop had them all lined up in two rows on some sort of shelf or something and they were cooperating quite nicely and sitting still, which I thought was a bit strange, but was amazed at her ability to keep such a large crowd of pups under control (maybe 20-30 pups).

We got the feeling that it was time to let them have some play time (It seemed to be expecting a bit much for them to be sitting still for such a long time) so we let them outside in a backyard-type place, but when I went out, I noticed there were about 4 tigers of different ages on leashes outside. I began to worry about the pups! I knew that would aggravate the tigers (who were quite magnificent and unique -- almost white).

I began to worry as the tigers became aggitated and I could see the pups were getting out of control -- just being happy, silly puppies. I suggested we do something so we tried to get the tigers in cages, but their doors wouldn't stay locked. Then we tried to get the pups in cages, but those doors wouldn't hold them, either and I knew they wouldn't keep the tigers from getting them.

Finally, I couldn't watch anymore, since I knew there was nothing I could do and this would be a complete bloody slaughter. I found myself a little annoyed at the owner because the whole fiasco could have been avoided and now the shop's reputation would be ruined and the very cute pups would be hurt. I went inside the house, very frustrated with the situation and feeling a bit hopeless and completely helpless.

A few seconds later, the owner came in. She had shot/killed the tigers and they were rolling on the floor dying. My first question was, "did we lose all the pups?" She said, "We only lost two". I felt sad for the two (and their owners), and again, for the reputation of the shop, but was relieved to know she'd saved the rest. I was wondering how she was going to tell the owners of all the pups what had happened.

There was more, but I don't remember it.

Hi Lilohehs

Well dreams refer to situations in your life. Eacxh dream symbol represents some action or set of behavior. Toegether they describe some new conceptual feelings that you have. Perhaps the symbols mean the following

PUPPIES: acting in a freiendly and playful way. Joking around
TIGERS: Stepping into danger territory.

Together the dreamn seems to hint at some boundary that you want to be respected. Perhaps friendliness and playfulness only have their limits. we all joke around yet sometimes the barrier is crossed and we tempt a stronger reaction. Here the dream maybe refers to some situation where you feel similarly responsible for the boundaries... you want the atmosphere to remain playful yet you are aware that things maybe getting out of hand. Try to think perhaps of some situation which involved such themes especially from the day before.

------------------------
If a dream features someone you know who is important to you then start out seeing if the dream is about them. The dream maybe a clarification of how you feel about them and your relationship with them. Dreams represent our thoughts and thoughts that we should be able to recognise. Try writing down some quotes that capture the current state of your feelings about them eg "My friend is not being as supportive as I she could be". Then try to see how the symbols could work. Negative symbols and bad feelings in the dream may represent bad feelings in real life or present difficulties. Many dreams about close friends, fiances, boyfriends and close family members will be about them and will represent new feelings. So try to spot ways in which new feelings are developing. It could be you are reacting to some incident the day before. Or it could be that some pattern is building up and finally you have changed your mind on them. But as we go through life we constantly assess and reassess how our relationships are progressing. Dreams are part of the way the brain monitors our own emotions. They maybe hidden in code but they truly can represent the very latest changes in your feelings. But having said that any person can appear in a dream and that dream may not be about that person.

Perfect! You hit it right on the head. It is about a phone conversation I had with someone just before bed. I was feeling exactly those feelings and wasn't able to put them into words. Thanks! That helps.

Puppies are representations of those aspects of life that are pure bliss, no responsibilities, and play. These times in our lives are wonderful but with that comes danger due to unknowing and being unaware.
The dream illustrates the possibility that danger, lurks even though it seems to be under control.
In trying to reign in the meaning a bit from one of generalities I must say that it is a bit difficult for me, the outsider. Think of a situation in your life where you are in fact attracting those who are more playful and unaware of or not caring in the ways of the world that could ambush them without a moments notice.

It is very likely showing that you feel a responsibility to protect those who are around you (much like a mother hen?). The irony comes because those who you try to protect are in the dark (as you see it) and stand to get hurt.

It is also remotely possible that the mind is showing that it tries to protect you from the anger and predatory (both unpredictable) from someone who is close to you. Yet you are unaware when these emotions will come to focus on your playful persona.

I feel that I am close however there is nothing specific in the dream that allows me to feel confident about exactly who is doing what to whom.
Your thoughts?

I would say that it is all of those things combined. In this conversation, I was feeling what bobby was saying on the one hand. I am just beginning a relationship with a new man who has mutual acquaintances, but we have not yet met. The previous night, he was doing what men often do, testing his sexual boundaries verbally. I enjoyed it, but I was also concerned about it getting out of hand when we do finally meet.

On the other hand, it is much like your interpretation. I'm a "fish out of water" in romantic situations because fear of many things has kept me in a self-protected place. I'm coming out of that, but one of those worries is leading a man down a road that I may not be willing to go. I don't want to manipulate through flirtation and then hurt someone (protecting them). It's odd and ridiculous I suppose, but it is in the back of my mind always.

And then, of course, the other element of your interpretation had the predatory angle. Men do enjoy the thrill of the chase, and though I want to remain playful and enjoy it immensely, it can be rather scary. I suppose in this dream, I was trying to have both, but it didn't work out very well. Some of the puppies got eaten and the beautiful tigers all ended up dead -- A conundrum.

Hmmm...

Hi Lilohehs

Its strange how these dreams interpret into real life thoughts. Dreams link of course to our feelings. They must mean something so it seems logical that they link to our thoughts.

Hope things turn out well for you

------------------------
Dreams are fascinating but maybe its best not to delve too deeply into their meanings and seek advice. Try not to rely on them as dreams are notoriously difficult to interpret. Yet they do tend to concentrate on recent events and new feelings. You should be able to spot the formation of your own conceptual emotions(with some practice).Deeply hidden inside a dream is some conception perhaps to the previous day. Some slight change in your own thoughts (so concentrate on those changes and see if they maybe featured in the dream).

The main fascination of dreams is how they link to the storage and formation of conceptual feelings. Conceptual feelings must be stored in the brain and perhaps the dreams that we have show how we store such ideas. Instead of using the word STRUGGLE the dream mind instead uses a situation involving a struggle. Instead of using the phrase "closer and closer" the dream mind instead uses the symbol of golf where the object is to get closer and closer to some eventual aim (to pot the ball).

Instead of trying to interpret your dreams just go to your own conceptual feelings and then see what recent thoughts could feature in your reams. Say some argument or situation from the day before. Maybe your dream could link to some task or issue about to be faced on the actual day of the dream?

This is where dreams are helpful for me. I am very adept at understanding thoughts, but emotions feel a bit... well, my mind is seeing someone drowning as I try to explain it. I have a hard time holding on to them, accepting them, interpreting them and validating them.

When I'm able to see them in dreams and understand them, somehow my feelings are validated, if that makes sense? I can see them from the outside and realize they are not something imagined or that there was something somehow wrong with my thinking/feeling whatever it was, but rather, something that is real, that I can process somehow.

Well I know what you mean. Its easy to see dreams as being more important than they are. To me dreams simply often symbolise our thoughts. They are just written in a different language. Yet when we have a dream we still think its far more important than it is. If we feel depressed then we do not care for people telling us we are depressed. yet if we get a dream that can be symbolically translated ... meaning we are depressed then we see it as some major sign.

I think its because dreams are associtaed with telepathy and premonitions... som ehigher level within ourselves. These sorts of dreams are true. Yet most simply relate to our own inner feelings... whatever they are... Did I say the right things? What did she mean by that ? I want to appear more confident? Why am I so tired recently? Its just the stuff in our heads.

------------------------
We often go to the movies or watch TV and can get highly involved in the plot and emotions that the characters go through. Dreams are very much like this. If a dream seems highly emotional then it maybe is capturing the emotions that you feel about some situation in your life. So see how these little movies really captured your emotions from yesterday. Pick out crucial moments from the previous day and see how the emotions and feelings are replayed. Many dreams simply capture the emotions that we feel - many simply capture emotions that are easy to recognise such as happiness, sadness and frustration. When we watch a TV show it may not bear any direct relation to our own real lives but still we can identify with the characters in simple ways. So forget the detailed plot of a dream and just try to get a clue from the dreams simple emotions. Then see what relevance they have to your own life. How do the characters in the dream feel and how are they similar to your own real life?

Yes, I can see how we often see dreams as signs, and I think it's good to remind us that they are merely us trying to work through what's going on in our lives. However, there is a great deal of value in our doing that as well, without seeing it as necessarily a supernatural sign. Although, as you've said, dreams can occasionally be prophetic. It's amazing when that happens, even if not very often.

For me, it's one avenue where I can see how I'm processing things. I'm not always in touch with how I'm feeling about something and have made decisions based on what I think is the "right thing to do" rather than paying attention to what's going on inside. I get so busy putting out fires and managing my daily life, that I'm not paying attention to my emotional life (which can be rather confusing). This provides an avenue to notice when I'm perhaps not acting true to that or acknowledging it.... if that makes sense?
