Default Dog & Molten Lava

Last night I had the most vivid dream about my much loved dog who died before Christmas. We were walking through a large and quite maze-like house (which I didn't recognise) when the floor opened and what looked like the crater of a live volcano pushed through. As the floor cracked open, my dog fell into the crater but his harness caught on the side and he was suspended on the edge. I couldn't get to him so I went and found someone to help (this was an elderly man who I didn't recognise) and he helped me to jump onto a piece of rock in the middle of the crater, I grabbed the dog and jumped down to the side.

I have read that in dreams, erupting volcanos mean suppressed feelings or times of change but this wasn't erupting as such. I can also understand why I would dream about my dog, as I miss him terribly. But why the two together? Any ideas?

Possibly your realisation that while life has its harmonious side it also possesses its opposite, its hostile side; in ancient Islamic terms it is described as satwa and rajah. It also appears that your dog may have had a problem prior to its demise that required the services of a Vet. As a dog lover and having had them as pets for a number of years I understand your grief and how lonely grief can be. You have my commiserations.

Hi,
In a maze of life a man whom you know and is a kind enemy or is someone who doesn't act on what he knows , won't achieve a wish but you will help him.
Lava means money.

Thank you, both, for your help (with my dream and the supportive words about my dog).

Varzandeh's response is directly relevant to my current situation and I hope that the dream will lead to me helping a kind man who is lost.

Well dreams seem confusing as we do not know what aspect of the symbolism is important. To one person the volcano maybe has a deep symbolic meaning. To me this merely symbolises danger and the need to protect your dog. Well The dream seems more about your mouring of the dogs death... you want to protect and save the dog yet cannot.
------------------------
If a dream features someone you know who is important to you then start out seeing if the dream is about them. The dream maybe a clarification of how you feel about them and your relationship with them. Dreams represent our thoughts and thoughts that we should be able to recognise. Try writing down some quotes that capture the current state of your feelings about them eg "My friend is not being as supportive as I she could be". Then try to see how the symbols could work. Negative symbols and bad feelings in the dream may represent bad feelings in real life or present difficulties. Many dreams about close friends, fiances, boyfriends and close family members will be about them and will represent new feelings. So try to spot ways in which new feelings are developing. It could be you are reacting to some incident the day before. Or it could be that some pattern is building up and finally you have changed your mind on them. But as we go through life we constantly assess and reassess how our relationships are progressing. Dreams are part of the way the brain monitors our own emotions. They maybe hidden in code but they truly can represent the very latest changes in your feelings. But having said that any person can appear in a dream and that dream may not be about that person.
