Default Edwardian Girl?

I was about nine when i had the dream about an Edwardian girl. At the time me and my family were living in an Edwardian house but it wasnt a large house. In the dream i am in my bedroom, i heard a noise downstairs in the kitchen. So i went down and i saw a teenage girl she looked about 15 she was wearing a dress that looked like it had a red stain on it. She could have been pretty but her hair was a mess around her shoulders and she looked really pale. In the dream i ended up being friends with her and she took me outside. And she told me that she had done something wrong but she didnt know what and a man had killed her. She said i was the only one who could possibly help her/find her before it was too late. when i woke up i saw a white spot hovering near my lamp. I had forgotten about the dream until recently (6 years have passed) when i had a very simular dream but it was more like i was the girl. what could this dream possibly mean?

Hi Laura Dora.
People who live in older type houses often talk about ghosts. You probably heard your parents talking about the girl and you dreamt about her. I think all Sheffield is haunted by girls with long hair in old frocks!
One of the more unpleasant aspect of Edwardian life was that if a girl got pregnant her father could pronounce her insane and put her in the Middlewood lunatic assylum. Many girls were put there by their parents to save the shame on the family and were forgotten about. They had their baby taken from them and spent the rest of their life in virtual hell. Perhaps she was one of these girls!
Cheers Wolfjk

Sounds like a dream about guilt or shame, possibly an unintentional thing that had unintended consequences. If you feel now that you are like the girl in the original iteration of the dream, then you are the only person that can now help yourself (get what I'm saying)?

dreams to me always have some trigger. Normally that trigger is from the previous day or it may reflect some new feelings. Yet this dream was years ago so any small changes in your perceptiuon will now be long forgotten. Its not easy.

But you could speculate on what causes the dream. You could have in some way become aware more of time spast. You could have become aware that people walked in this house before you. That this hgouse was full of history. It could even be some ghost or something similar. Maybe you just heard your parents say something that got your mind thinking. Thats how dreams are generated.

There are no hard and fast rules to symbolism in dreams. Some dreams use symbols which are absolutely textbook. A bird may symbolise a bad omen. A tree may symbolise a family tree. Many simple symbolic meanings maybe totally correct. Yet do not expect symbolic meanings to repeat. If a soldier symbolises the need for discipline in one dream it may have a totally different meaning in another. Added to this symbols may have very personal meanings. Here you can use the method of free associations and try to see what links to any symbol in the dream. Simply think back to everything in your current mindset and see what connections you can make. Even simple connections can mean lots. Say if a set of traffic lights appear in your dream it may link to some incident that happened at a traffic lights the previous day. Always remember that your dream mind does not feel it necessary to translate its message to you. The need to understand the language of a dream is not strictly necessary to you. Its like a telephone. You can benefit from it without needing to know the way in which the microprocessor and communications work. But nevertheless we feel the need to study and understand dreams.
