Weird reacurring dream

I have had this same dream since i was about 5 or 6 yr.s old and would like anyones thoughts on it.
It starts out in a black room, I can feel that i am in a large empty room even though it is pitch black and i can not see anything. It is cold and i have the sense that if i were the yell it would echo and sound hallow as it difted in the expanse. it only stays quiet for a few minutes, before there is a pounding in the distance it is very light at first and hard to tell what it is...
then in time with the beat shapes begin to apear they are 4 dimintional objects... Spheres and pyramids and cubes and cylindars they are small in seem to be relative to the beat sound. As the beat gets louder the shapes get bigger filling, the space. As the beat gets louder I realize it is a heart beat ... and the shapes and the beat continue to grow not faster but louder and bigger.... at some point i realize it is my heart beat... by then the shapes are huge and crushing and the beating is so loud ears hurt I don't have the ability to cover my ears and the beat pounds so loud that i can feel it almost knock me over ...I can begin to feel my ears bleed and I can barely breather because the shapes have filled the room and are physically crushing me... just before i feel like the pounding beat & the shapes will literally kill me i wake up... i am covered in sweat and my husband tells me in recent years i have been screaming and crying although i can not hear any of this in my dream.
Can anyone help me? Twenty years later i still have this same dream at least twice a year it seems

This dream reminds of my childhood, when I was left in a room on my own and waited for footsteps to approach. It is not that I was neglected, but for a child a few minutes seem like eternity and abandonment by the mother is a constant waking nightmare.
Your dream my hark back to one ofthese epizodes in your childhood. However your present day nightmares could be caused by something that is happening in your sleep. It could be headache or migrain coming on while you sleep, it could be some stomach upset or something trivial that irritates you in sleep. The dream could be caused by psychological upsets, or arguments at work.
My guess is that you have some headache in your sleep when these dreams happen. However headaches can themselves be caused by food, especially dairy products and chocholetts.
