My dream of Hell

Hi everyone.
I recently had a dream which has been bothering me quite a bit.
I had a dream that I had was dead, and found myself in the first level of Hell (which was also being referred to as Purgatory). Essentially it was nothing more than a shabby industrial city, (lots of factories, near a polluted looking river) and the main mode of transportation was a very old bus that one of the head demon/devil people (a chubby black woman in this case) drove (she herself was actually very friendly...)
She brought me to this Inn/restaurantish thing, which was a huge hub for everyone else both in Hell and even a few stragglers from the living world could wander in every now and again (usually to just be chased back out). I met the innkeeper, and she informed me that the only way to get back out of Hell was to escape through a "posessed" room in the top of her Inn. As she explained it- if I lived I would be granted life, and could return home, but if I could not make it through I would die. This perplexed me as I was dead and in Hell already. She explained to me that if I "died" again, it would be just like the first time, except this time I'd be in the SECOND level of Hell... etc

During this time that I was in Hell, the only thing I wanted to do was make it out to my boyfriend (in the dream he was my husband). I just had to get back to him. A good portion of the dream gets fuzzy from this point.

The last thing I remember of this dream is that my "husband" ended up with me there, and it was Christmas time, and we were trying to buy a crappy little christmas tree, but had no money, so we decided to steal it (at this time we'd been in Hell awhile, and that was just the way things were done there).

Apparently we were just making the best of life there. the same as we do here in real life.

I don't really know what to make of it. I'm not particularly religious, and don't really even believe in Hell....

Can anyone make any sense of this?

(Sorry if this was confusing, it's harder to explain dreams that I thought it might be)

This may be way out in left field . . . but,

I'd say the dream signifies that deep down you feel guilty about something . . . and since your boyfriend ends up in the upper level of hell with you . . . I'd say that he shares in the guilt. The Christmas tree you buy together . . . makes me think that you are "playing house". You are living together and/or having sexual relations and this is the source of the guilt. You've been taught that co-habitating/sex outside of marriage is a sin and a part of you is worried that this will cause you to go to hell.

Even if it's totally wrong, and it probably is, that's my honest interpretation . . . and I'll apologize to you ahead of time if you're not doing anything like I described.

Sorry it is not a good interpretation as the hell is:
If one dreamt went into the hell and didn't get out , means he commits sins and should contrite sins, or there is a death danger for him as a pagan.
If dreamt he was watching the hell but he wasn't suffered means he will have a sorrow and suffering but will rescue at last.
If dreamt he was in the hell but didn't know when got in there means he will get poor and will be in a sorrow for the rest of his life.
If dreamt he was in the hell and had food and drinks and was burnt means he has evil deeds and should contrite.
If dreamt an angel took his hair and threw him in the hell means he will be unlucky and will have bad luck.
If dreamt entered the hell mean she will die while committing a sin.
If dreamt he had hell water or hell fruit means he wants to learn a useless science or will kill someone.
If dreamt had a sword and entered the hell means he insults people.
If dreamt he was eating hell fire means he will eat an orphan's money.
If dreamt he set fire near the hell means he will have a difficult job for the governor.
If dreamt he was pulled into the hell means he will be a pagan at last.
If dreamt he was hearing the noise of the hell , means he will be questions and will receive a fear by the governor.
If dreamt he took place close to the hell means his life will be difficult.
Hell may also mean : 1- A cruel governor 2- God's Wrath 3- committing a sin 4- sufferings 5- abjectness 6- eating an orphan's money or immoral money.

Varzandeh: I've never heard any of those before, but it certainly gives me quite a lot to ponder. A few of those scenarios do refer to my dream. With some time maybe I can arrange all the seperate meanings and warnings into a clear message, either from my subconscious, or from... something else altogether (if something else actually exists.

Morning Star: I have heard of the "guilt" thing before, and I wonder also if that may be part of it. Guilt is not really something I've had a lot of time to focus on. Any of the things that could have caused me to feel guilt were amidst a lot of craziness and misery in my life, that may have forced me to bury it deep deep down. As far as the bf & I living together... you're right, we do live together, and we have for about 4 years now (keeping in mind I'm 22). It wasn't exactly all how I'd hoped it would be... There's really no sort of pre-marital sex type guilt. I'm not religious, and even if I were clinging to any sort of scrap of religion, we consider ourselves to be essentially the same as married minus the paperwork :-)

However it does oddly feel like we ARE just playing house... In every sense of the term.

I'd like to offer some insight from a biblical perspective on your dream. From what you typed in your responses, I understand your viewpoint and respect it, but I also want to leave you with a gleam of hope that perhaps there is Someone greater at work in our lives who truly desires His best for us and the path to take. So again just my .02 cents on your dream and if it doesn't fit, by all means you can toss it.

I believe your partial perception of your dream may help you grasp its meaning. What stuck out to me in the dream was being in an uncomfortable place called "hell". Later you are told there is a way of escape, which may mean the turmoil or hardships you are facing (or have faced) in real life may represent that place of "hell" as you suggested, whether that's being there physically or within yourself, and unable to find a way out? Later your "husband" joins you and both of you make the best of the situation.

Perhaps this dream is pointing you in the direction you need to go, out? Sometimes we get very used to hardships, circumstances, or emotional states in our lives that we don't see the hope of a better life that we were meant to have (hope that makes sense). I think of the wife (for example) who is regularly abused by her husband but does nothing about it because she grows accustomed to that abuse, or the person that struggles financially and constantly in debt because of their habit to spend and borrow money constantly and not grow beyond that. Not to suggest this is your case by any means...just some food for thought.

I'd like to leave you with a verse that sums up well what I'm trying to say...

And Im not talking about a particular religion but the concept of a God, afterlife, responsibility and accountability......???

Your dream is a warning, since you say you are not religious well it makes sense that you should have a dream like this. Its gods warning to find the light or you will continue to live your life in darkness which will continue into the next world. I assure you there is a heaven and a hell, and our time on earth is gods exam, make sure you pass. Go to church, jesus loves you more than anyone. The fact that you took a christmass tree represents you trying to find god in your life. Goodluck!!!
