the old man, the girl and the darkness

In this dream i'm at work but i'm not working, i'm there attending an event. (I work at a banquet hall) An old man invites me to sit at a table with him. I realize he's the old man that rarely appears in my dreams who has a habbit of giving me advice except now he's asking me for a favor, he asks me to help his granddaughter learn to read sheet music, which wasn't a problem for me I showed her how to look at staff and read the notes f,a,c,e and e,g,b,d,f.

I decided to go over to my coworkers to talk and rub in the fact that they were working and I wasn't. One of my coworkers, who I happen to have the biggest crush on, wasn't working either but happend to be there. I gave her a big hug and refusing to let her go I asked her when her and I were hanging out. As the word 'never' leaves her lips we fall to the ground (i assume we somehow tripped) Im still holding her and we both fall asleep. I awake in the dream to find that not only is she gone but so was everyone else, it was dark the building was closed and the lights were off.

The old man I think is somehow suppose to represent my dead grandfater, I respected my grandfather alot and I also felt a similar respect for the old man. I'm thinking the dream stems from my fears of rejection and being alone other interpritations would help me out alot, thanks =P
