Odd Family Dream

It's been a long time since I've had a dream I can even remember when I get up much less one that is weird enough to make me play it over and over in my head.

In my dream, I'm in a big back yard out in the country. There's a chain-link fence surrounding the yard. I am on a small hill and in front of me is a small, old barn. To my left are some woods with a dirt trail leading through the middle. There is some kind of party or reunion going on and many people are down on that trail and seem to be having a good time. Suddenly, I see a young version of my father (in his 20's) appear around the corner of the barn walking towards me. He's carrying a toy pistol and ignores me as if I'm just watching the dream rather than in it. Behind him is a toddler absently following. The toddler reminded me of pictures of my cousin when she was a baby.My father comes towards me and rounds the corner heading towards the woods. Suddenly, there's a small group of people talking by the barn: my father, an older lady, and an older man. I walk up to them and now am part of the dream. The lady is dressed in mourning clothes; all black. She turns to me, and I recognize her as a family member but I don't know who. She seems happy. She puts her arm around me and tells me, "The cow loves you. The cow has a feeling." Next, I see Death appear (long robe, big sickle) and he floats along coming towards me and then makes a right towards the trail with all the people on it. The old man in my small group turns toward Death and chases after him muttering, "Salvation." Then, I leap towards Death trying to touch his robe and fall short. Then the dream literally fades, and I wake up.

Here's some background: Right now I'm anxiously awaiting to hear if I get into a medical residency. If I don't get in, I'll likely have to wait another year and reapply. I'm wondering if my father is me in my dream. I have a gun because I'd like to do something to help with this big part of my life, but it's a toy gun, so I can't actually do anything. I'm wondering if the small group of family members I go up to are people who are trying to comfort me while I'm stressing out, and I wonder if Death represents a part of my life ending while a new one begins. The rest: what people are saying, the party, leaping but falling short, I'm totally clueless about. What are your thoughts on the whole dream???
