Question Recurring dream... Does it mean something? If so, what?

For at least a year, I've had a recurring dream. I'm driving a car, sometimes mine, sometimes some other car. There is a person, rarely anyone I recognize, in the front passengers seat. This person is just chit-chatting away, a typical social conversation, nothing of significance.

We're driving on a two lane straight road, very flat but up ahead the road goes up a vertical mountain, straight up, 90 degrees. I KNOW the tires will never hold, the engine can't possible pull the car up the very tall, maybe a mile, mountain. Yet, my passenger continues to chat away, totally unconcerned, no big deal. So I continue driving and the tires do hold and the car does go right up the mountain, straight up. I feel amazed, knowing that it shouldn't have been possible.

Now we get to the top which is completely flat and it's only 10-20 yards long, and we have to go down the other side, vertical, straight down. I KNOW we're going to fall and smash into the bottom. I AM PETRIFIED! But my passenger just keeps chatting away. Yep, we drive right down the side. No problems. Not even accelerating much less falling.

In the dream, I clearly remembering thinking that it isn't possible to do what we just did but it happened. In most of the dreams, we then, after completing some 'business', have to drive back going and up down again. And I go through the same panic, terror of knowing it's not possible but know we did the impossible before.

Any thoughts on what is going on?

What a great dream!

I hate to be too surficial about this, but the meaning of the dream seemed evident to me right away. Your mind is seperated into two portions- the subconscious and the conscious. Your conscious mind knows its limits, and knows what you can and cannot do. Your subconscious mind knows it is possible to drive a car vertically up and down a mountain, because in your dreams there are no limits to what you can do. I imagine that your dreams are sending you a message that a challenge you are sure is unsurmountable- perhaps you want to you go back to college, perhaps you have a dream of learning to play the guitar and joining a rock band. Your freer self, the unconscious portion of your thought process, desperately wants you to pursue this.

The fact that the dream is reoccuring makes me more sure of this- you should pay attention to this dream. You are capable of more than you know.

(like I said- a pretty surficial interpretation...)

Hi,
Even in sleep one needs tobe entertained. You have your passenger do that for you! However when you lie in bed for about 7 hours you also need thange sleeping position and that is where your subconscious comes in! Think what you would do in a real life situation! Perhaps you have been on a fairground ride; you move to accommodate the direction of the ride. In your sleep your dream makes you move sleeping positions by repositioning your body according to what the dream tells you to.
If someone were watching you during this dream, they would have seen you stretch, straighten your body and turn over in bed, then go back to a peaceful sleep again.
Cheers Wolfjk

You are facing challenges in your life which initially you feel unable to master but once tackled you realise that they were not so difficult. It almost sounds as if you are in a learning role.

Hi,
Going up to a mountain as you said means achieving a wish that seems impossible.
Driving means gidance of the life.
Mount means a big wish or an important man.
