Post Dreamt I Mated w/a Whale & Gave Birth

Hi there, I just dreamt that I was swimming in the arctic waters or a place like it (there was snow and ice but I was warm and comfortable in the ocean) and this woman swam past me and wanted to know how I could keep swimming when she thought I could only swim for a few minutes (four?)? I told her my secret was that I also floated on my back. As I said this I turned on my back and floated in the water and kicked my legs, hoping that I would stay up until I reached the other side and then swam into a welcoming fluffy white polar bear.

Then the polar bear had become a whale and I had mated with it (the mating itself was not part of the dream). I felt a little sad afterwards because I gave birth to four(?) fish, who started swimming to the other side and I hoped that they wouldn't get eaten by other animals and would stay alive.

If this helps any I've always been going through rough times and am a writer/artist but am blocked/paralyzed or procrastinate with my work & have been like this forever it seems...

Thanks!

Oops, I forgot to ask - does anyone have an interpretation of what it means to mate with a whale and give birth?

Hi,
Swimming means working , arctic snow and ice means a sorrow.
A bear is interpreted as someone jealous and silly.
A whale means a big thief person.
Giving birth to a fish means giving birth to a baby girl.

Default Huh?

But I'm not pregnant!

I just read that the whale symbolizes the unconscious.

I'm wondering if mating with a whale and producing offspring has to do with creativity...

Hi,
I think you're out there looking for inspiration. You thinnk of ideas but unable to weave them into a story at present. Perhaps dreams bring a coherent, creative idea that you will by able to write. The dreaming mind is part of ones psyche, however it will do things in its own time. You are dealing with a wild, untamed beast chained to a body whose safety is the beasts main duty. An unseen cerberus.
Dreams are the nocturnal guardian angels of the mortal coil.

Her the dream describes some of your thoughts and perceptions in sleep. You need comfort and entertainment in your sleep just as you do in waking life. You also need to change sleeping positions a few times in a nights sleep.

my secret was that I also floated on my back. As I said this I turned on my back and floated in the water and kicked my legs,
The dream is demonstrating how you actually move and change sleeping positions many times during the night.
Near the morning your dream pampers for your sexual desires and vaguely hints at the implausibility sex with a whale
There is also a bit of bittersweet sorrow

to wake you up!
So you can observe that dreams have a priority. They may help you create when they have the time and the inclination, however it it is up to you to make the strong resulition to create.
Cheers Wolfjk

The information that you give MAY or MAY NOT be important. Tpo me dreams do not link to common features in our own personality instead they link to very strong NEW FEELINGS and insights into our situation. So if this writers block was especially on your mind at this time then its possible that the dream does link to the info you give.,

The various animals may link to the various competing moods inside you... such as

WHALE : an overwhelming feeling of calmness
POLAR BEAR : Overcpoming a harsh environment
COLD : little progress

The points when you morph or the animals suddenly change from one to another signify moments when your own moods change. Try to see how these symbols reflect your own changing moods

------------------------
What exactly is a dream? A dream often captures some new thought or feeling or fantasy. Often deeply embedded in it is some idea or thought. Try to bear that in mind when understanding a dream. A dream will symbolise some conceptual thought such as "I think my grandmother is still angry with me after what I said" . Many dreams revolve us making such judgements based upon our intuitions.

How exactly do you go about understanding the meaning of a dream symbol? Well first you start to make associations with that symbol. Take for instance if you had a dream about Tony Blair the Prime Minister of the UK. You can associate many things with him. First of all he is a decision maker. The dream then could capture you wanting to take some serious decision within your own life. But equally Tony Blair is a man who began his political life a hero who was universally popular. Now he is disliked by almost everyone in the country. Maybe the dream captures some similar situation for yourself eg "When I first started my job everyone liked me. I could do nothing wrong. But recently I have become universally unpopular". But we could also see Tony Blair in another sense. He is the ally of President Bush and is often accused of doing everything he says and because of this has been accused of being a poodle. So maybe the dream captures some theme with a similar "yes man" theme. But Tony Blair could also have different meanings. He has virtually said that he will resign in the spring and there was much speculation about this and about how he should go about resigning. Maybe the dream captures a similar theme in your own life eg "I am thinking of leaving my job. But if I tell my boss it may cause trouble for me. I might just leave it as long as possible".

Therefor its possible to list many different symbolic meanings. Any one of these could be correct. The first association that comes to mind is not always the correct one. Its a matter of trying out different theories and then seeing if they fit the situation or feelings within your life. If one seems to work then try working in the other dream symbols.
