OK this is a dream I had eary this morning...I'm wondering if anyone can help me draw out the symbolic meanings from it...
I was at a party with all my best friends and lots of strangers. The atmosphere was great and we were all having a great time. I was talking to a girl who really liked me, she was all over me. Which was nice. Then I went to the kitchen where one of my best friends had apparently drunk too much, and he was sick on my shirt. I remember thinking how it would wreck my chances with the girl, but I wasn't angry or dissapointed. I was going to go home but instead, I asked to borrow a shirt from someone who lived in the house the party was in. When I went upstairs to change clothes, I was in a hotel room with all of my best friends in it. They said when they had tried to go home, a maid had persuaded them to come stay in the "free hotel" for the night. We sat and watched TV and drank beer for the rest of my dream. I'm not sure if this has deeper meaning, or if it's just showing my desire to be with my friends again, who I havn't seen for a few months now. |

Okay, if we believe everyone in our dream is a representation of ourselves:
the person who got sick on your shirt was you. You were in a great situation, having fun (the girl who was really into you) and then someone (you) ruins it by getting sick on your shirt. Do you feel that sometimes you sabotage a good thing, it could be a relationship, a job, a class, etc? Also, I wonder if getting sick means something as well. Generally we get sick when we do something to excess. Is it literal in that you are worried about your drinking, or worried that you go too far in things... live in the fast lane? You go upstairs to change clothes (you are moving forward....upwards) in a strange place (the hotel room maybe representing the future) but surrounded by all of your old friends drinking beer. What does that mean to you? I could only guess that either you are okay with the new changes coming up in your life, as long as you have your friends with you, or you are worried that this group of friends, in a new situation, is holding you back (i.e. just sitting around watching tv and drinking beer) It is interesting to put a spin on in and again say the friends are actually all part of you. So you are either worried that some aspects of yourself could be holding you back (you would rather just sit around watching tv and drinking beer) or you are happy that the good parts of yourself, represented by the friends, fun, t.v. watching and drinking beer, will be with you in new situations. |

Melvin, that does make sense. I hadn't thought of all the people representing myself, but it works well. I'm at the end of my 4 year degree and feeling anxious about not working hard enough, with just a few weeks to go before my final coursework submissions and exams...so that applies to sabotaging good things as you said.
And I think it is more a sign of my friends being around me in a new situation, as we have all matured a lot over the past few years, and hold respectable jobs, degrees etc now. So I don't feel that associating with them holds me back. Quite the opposite in a number of cases, my friends help open doors and help me to achieve things I couldn't do on my own. Thanks for your positive answer |
